This painting and I have been on quite a journey together. 🦊💜
.
I started with a vision of something abstract, atmospheric, and mysterious. But after plenty of painting, repainting, and a few frustrated conversations with the canvas, I had to let that original idea go.
.
What I knew was that I loved this sweet fox and the purple flowers nestled beside her ears. So I held onto those and kept going. Little by little, a brighter, more colorful world began to grow around her—full of birds, flowers, and lush botanicals.
.
Somewhere along the way, the painting I couldn’t quite figure out became one that makes me smile every time I look at it.
.
Meet Joy Begins Here, now finished and ready to share. A little reminder that sometimes we find our way by paying attention to what we love. 💜
.
Come meet this sweet fox and see my other new fox paintings in person next weekend at:

🖌️ Hi! Today’s AUFS gallery shift comes with a cabinet assembly project…

I’m excited to spend the day surrounded by art! What I’m less excited about is the cabinet I need to assemble to get my studio all spiffy for Open Studios. 😂🔨

If you’re in the area, stop by and say hello while I work on getting everything ready. Moral support (and assembly expertise) welcome!

I’m Natalie Marquis, a mixed media artist working primarily in acrylics. I love creating dreamy wildlife and botanical art filled with color, texture, and a little magic. ✨🌸🦊

🌼✨ What if you could hear the daffodils whisper?

I’m delighted to share Listening to the Daffodils, a painting inspired by my sister and her beautiful connection to the land surrounding her home. 💖

Every spring, golden daffodils emerge among the trees and ancient stones, and my sister says she can almost hear them speaking to her. Not in words, but in that quiet, magical language of nature.

In this painting, a woman becomes one with the landscape, surrounded by gentle woodland messengers—a rabbit, mourning doves, and cheerful daffodils. 🌿🕊️

For me, this painting is about peace, renewal, and the beautiful connection we share with the natural world.

With its soft, calming energy, I can easily envision it bringing a sense of tranquility to a spa, wellness center, or a quiet sanctuary at home.

Sometimes, all we need to do is pause, breathe, and listen. 🌼

Listening to the Daffodils
Original acrylic mixed media painting | 36” × 48”
