Wow, @thegoodgirlfriendstribe a time was had…my heart is full…

2026 has been a year I committed to being in alignment and today marks something truly special.
Alignment for me means landing softly in spaces and only staying where the light in me is honored. But today it was multiplied…

You got receipts to prove it…in a season when you have nothing to prove.

WEEK 9:

Beginning this Monday, we are bringing the art meets self-knowledge component. Students will spend 8 weeks gaining a dual understanding of art and their history rooted here in Baltimore.

Week 8 | Art + Design is the vehicle. Personal branding and identity development is the mission.

As we prepare to launch programming in October 2026 with the hopes of continued partnership in summer of 2027, we are broadening the scope of how we intentionally support high school youth as they transition into college, the workforce, and the next chapter of their lives.

The season of transition for high schoolers soon to graduate can be one of the most challenging and defining periods in a young person’s life. Our mission is to create meaningful opportunities for youth to discover who they are, recognize their strengths, develop confidence, and explore the possibilities through mentorship.

Such mentorship, project-based learning, creative expression, and identity development is intended to guide students in connecting their values, interests, and passions to future educational and career pathways.

Over the past several weeks, we have reshaped the BrandZine reflection workbook. @bri.loren_ has redesigned the cover to communicate a visual design that tells a story. I have revised the lessons to support self reflection, identity development, and professional practice. I’ve had the privilege of interviewing and collaborating with experienced professionals, including university professors, business leaders, and a neuroscientist, to gather valuable insights on how we can thoughtfully respond to the evolving needs of today’s youth.

Because before we ask young people what they want to become, we must create space for them to discover who they are.

Here’s to creating with purpose and preparing the next generation to be hopeful and future forward in their thinking.

WEEK 7:
As we continue to explore how engaging the senses can inform thoughtful design strategies and strengthen client relationships, let’s focus on one of the most important senses in the design process: HEARING.

Truly listening to a client’s wants, needs, and vision allows us to develop solutions that are practical, aesthetically appealing, and mindful of the project budget.

These young design professionals did an excellent job translating the client’s vision into a thoughtful design plan while remaining attentive to the project manager’s budget considerations. We as designers are aware that renderings and drafts are finalized by the architect on the team.

The result is a collaborative approach that balances creativity, functionality, and financial responsibility—ensuring everyone feels heard, valued, and excited about the direction of the project.

After all, great design begins with listening.

This week we met with Architect Jerryn McCray and had a conversation about drafts for existing projects, his professional experience, and journey in the field of architecture.
We were able to experience best practices when meeting with professionals who lead and impact the projects we are a part of. We are appreciative for Mr. McCray’s willingness to educate and provide access to young professionals emerging in the field of architecture and design.

Today Angel @angelunique_ and I @curatedwithkarmen connected with Donna and fellow design students to gain their perspective on the role of lighting in interior design. As we continue exploring how the five senses shape our experience of a space, lighting is essential to how we visually perceive and interact with our surroundings. Thoughtful lighting enhances functionality, influences mood and atmosphere, highlights key design features, and ultimately helps create a more intentional and memorable experience.

Well-executed design engages multiple senses to create a meaningful and memorable experience. By gaining inspiration from suppliers and businesses like @gramophone @gramophone_designbuild we approach design with a deeper understanding of how to engage the senses.

What does walking in alignment look like for you?
How do values and alignment connect?

•Constant experiences of meaningful connection even with a complete stranger or with growing partnerships.
•Energy directed toward meaningful goals rather than constant comparison.
•Relationships that encourage growth rather than diminish your sense of self.
•Contentment and feelings of gratitude🫶🏽
