Cajun in Cleveland Heights - My memoir, TEN YEARS DOWNRIVER, on sale now!
POSTS STORIES REELS
Two weeks until we head downriver. šŸŒŠ Ten Years Downriver officially arrives October 16. If you want to have a copy headed your way, pre-order options are available now through the link in my bio or on my website. And for my fellow Amazon people, ordering will be available there beginning on release day. Weā€™re officially close enough that October 16 no longer feels like some imaginary date on the calendar. The books are real. They exist. And very soon, they wonā€™t just be sitting in my canoe. One day until publication! As a debut author, thereā€™s something incredibly rewarding (and a little terrifying) about having someone you donā€™t know read your story and understand what you were trying to say. I was thrilled to receive this review from BookLife, especially seeing the Mississippi River metaphor and the heart of Ten Years Downriver resonate with a reader. After months of contemplating, rewriting, and questioning practically every sentence, this was a pretty wonderful way to head into publication day. Tomorrow, the book is officially out in the world. And I turn 41! šŸ„‚ #TenYearsDownriver #BookLife #DebutAuthor #Memoir #BookReview by @ashleysdurand
One step closer to seeing Ten Years Downriver on my local library shelves! šŸ“ššŸŒŠ I officially submitted my debut memoir to the Cleveland Heights Library for consideration. Fingers crossed it finds a home there soon!# In the meantime, dust off those library cards! šŸ¤ž #TenYearsDownriver #ClevelandHeights #DebutAuthor #Memoir LibraryLove @heightslibraries by @ashleysdurand
Welcome to the marginalia of Ten Years Downriver, the stories that didnā€™t quite make it onto the pages. Growing up along Bayou Teche, softball games with my dad, a zipline story that got entirely too long, and Hercules, the dog my ex-husband and I shared, who deserved more pages. A miserable trip to Italy, the wedding band I bought myself and kept after being asked to return my engagement ring, and Danielle crying in a restaurant bathroom when I told her I was leaving my marriage. There were harder details, too. Losing more than 20 pounds from the stress of divorce, and losing a job opportunity that might have kept me in Los Angeles a little longer. Some stories were too long, some were too personal, and others just didnā€™t fit where the book was going. #bookstagram #debutauthor #memoir #cuttingroomfloor by @ashleysdurand
October recap. Birthday. Anniversary. Halloween. Dogs. Foliage. Arguably the best month of the year, but Iā€™m very biased. Also my first time trying French onion soup after 41 years on earth. So wild! #october #foodphotography #halloween #cleveland #pumpkins by @ashleysdurand
Iā€™m shocked I waited until I was 41 to be Evie for Halloween. Guess I needed to find my very own Rick. But first, I have to find my key! PS the @themummy is my favorite movie if you couldnā€™t tell. #halloween #themummy #halloweencostumes #october by @ashleysdurand
It was a gorgeous October, and the foliage was the star this 2026. Even though during Ten Years Downriver @danielledurand_ was skeptical of ā€œEverettā€ in the beginning, we now travel together all the time. Wolf pack? Coven? Weā€™ve never been to Szalayā€™s Farm despite living here for almost ten years. Guess this October is as good as any to start! #october #bookstagram #memoir #fall #pumpkin by @ashleysdurand
Sweet, smoky, spicy and oh-so-creamy! This Pepper Jelly Cream Cheese Dip is the perfect appetizer for your Halloween festivities! With just a handful of ingredients and 15 minutes in the oven, itā€™s an easy crowd-pleaser. Serve it warm with @heinens meat sticks, pepperoni, fresh veggies and crunchy tortilla chips for the ultimate sweet and savory snack board! šŸ‘» Get the full recipe on my blog! When the fall foliage at Brandywine Falls matches your book cover, you take advantage of it. šŸ‚ A little autumn scenery, a little river inspiration, and a good book to go with it. Fall colors are reaching their peak here in Ohio, so consider this your sign to grab a copy of Ten Years Downriver and enjoy a little reading season! Walking down our favorite Halloween street in Cleveland Heights, Scarborough, referred to as Scare-borough, it brings me back to the 90s nostalgia of trick-or-treating back in the day. This year the weeks leading up to this Halloween is filled with families walking the street to admire the decorations. #halloween #trickortreat #clevelandheights #october by @ashleysdurand
Itā€™s a little wild to think that Ten Years Downriver is finally out in the world, and that everything I wrote about ultimately led me here. A marriage I never saw coming, two golden retrievers, a home I love, and a life filled with the things that make me happiest, including cooking, photography, and telling stories. Itā€™s strange looking back at all the things that didnā€™t work out and realizing how much of what I have now wouldnā€™t exist without them. I donā€™t know if everything happens for a reason, but I do know that Iā€™m exactly where I want to be. I guess there was an invisible string after all. #TenYearsDownriver #OpenWater #InvisibleString #Memoir #LifeAfterDivorce by @ashleysdurand
Itā€™s our five year anniversary today! Boston was actually our first choice of where to start over in Ten Years Downriver. Things didnā€™t quite work out that way, but ā€œEverettā€ and I did finally make it there for our first vacation together in 2019! And as luck would have it, Danielle lives there now, so while we never got to call Boston home, at least we have a free place to stay when we visit. Honestly, that might be the better arrangement. šŸ˜‚šŸ» #TenYearsDownriver #Boston #SamuelAdams #Memoir by @ashleysdurand
