POSTS STORIES REELS
👋🏼 HI, HELLO, IT’S ME AGAIN It’s been a while so I thought maybe time for a re-introduction! Hi, I’m Ash. A bookworm who always has a coffee on the go 📚☕️ In 2025 I somehow read 168 books (no, I don’t sleep, thanks for asking) and I’m here to share my honest reviews to help work out the books worth your time… and which ones are possibly not. If you’ve made it this far, here’s the vibe check: 🌟 What I read: Crime, thrillers, twisty plots, messy lives, emotional damage… and the occasional romance to keep me stable 💁🏼‍♀️
Sci-fi, ghosts and trains are respectfully a no from me. 🫣 My reading style: I go on book blind dates.
No blurbs. No spoilers. No idea what I’m about to read. Just vibes, high average ratings and chaos. Sometimes I win. Sometimes I suffer but it’s always lucky dip fun! 📚 Library girlie: You won’t find aesthetic book stacks here from millions of my own books because I borrow most of mine (shoutout libraries 🙌🏼) with the occasional gifted read… which I will ALWAYS review honestly. 📺 Outside of books: I’m a reality and reno TV addict, lover of AFL, Pilates gal, Wordle addict, amateur gardener and snort laugher. I work, mum and basically run on coffee, memes, sarcasm and mild delusion. Oh and I overuse emojis, exclamation marks and brackets (!!!) - sorry, not sorry! 🎉 Why I’m here:
No perfect feeds. No fluff. Just real reviews to help you find your next ‘can’t put it down’ read (hopefully! 🤞🏼) Now it’s your turn 💬👇🏼 Please say hi and let me know the last book that you absolutely loved! by @ashs.goodreads
📚 TOP READS OF 2025 It may not quite be the end of the year yet, but the holiday bags are coming out and that ‘new year, new reading me’ energy is officially kicking in. So let me help you finish 2025 and start the new year with a reading bang 💥 I’m sharing my top reads from the 161 books I’ve devoured so far this year to help you find your next favourite across all your go to genres. Please let me know if any of these will be making their way onto your holiday TBR pile!📖💛 by @ashs.goodreads
📆 2025 READS This year reading carried me through every season.. the loud ones, the quiet ones and the ones that asked me to slow right down. Across 168 books I travelled far and wide, slipped into other lives, solved mysteries, felt deep joy, quiet comfort, heartbreak, hope and everything in between. Reading wasn’t about chasing numbers (even though I still love a good stat 😉), it was about finding steadiness, escape and magic in all the pages. This year delivered 53 five star ⭐️ reads for me and countless moments of ‘just one more chapter’. Grateful for the authors, the stories and this wonderful bookish corner of the internet that keeps recommending my next great read 💛📖 by @ashs.goodreads
📖 BOOK: Theo of Golden by Allen Levi ⭐️ RATING: 5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📚 READ: # 120 OF 2026 🌟 Goodreads average: 4.40 📕 Genre: Literary ✌🏼 Vibe check: Kindness Wins, Community Connection, Tear Jerker full review ⬇️ I had heard SO many good things about this book, so after patiently waiting for my library reservation to finally come through, I was very excited to get stuck into it. It was worth every single second of the wait 🥹 Theo arrives in the town of Golden and begins connecting with people in a quiet but incredibly meaningful way, showing how small acts of kindness can change someone’s day… or even their life. This is one of those stories that reminds you just how much of an impact one person can have on the lives of others. I found myself in the ridiculous position of not being able to put this book down, while simultaneously never wanting it to end. I had tears in my eyes more than once, and there were so many moments that made me stop and think about the kind of person I want to be. Now whenever I’m having a tough day, I genuinely remind myself to ‘be more Theo’ ❤️ Because if there’s one thing this book reinforced for me, it’s the power of kindness, connection and taking the time to truly see the people around us. Without a doubt, this was one of my best reads of the year and a book I know will stay with me forever. I loved it so much that I went out and bought my own copy immediately. And for someone who relies heavily on the library, you know that means something! 😂 Do yourself a favour and add this heartfelt read to your TBR immediately. Just be prepared to have your heart thoroughly squeezed 🥹❤️ 📚 Reviews are posted in no particular order, just shared randomly as I go for you to enjoy! #bookreview #theoofgolden #allenlevi #kindness by @ashs.goodreads
✨ 2027 RELEASES Ok, ok I know we’ve only JUST hit November… but it’s never too early to start getting excited about next year’s books right!? Especially these 10! I’ve seen a few of these posts floating around, but not nearly enough celebrating our incredible Australian authors, so I had to put together my own little wishlist! Long time followers will know I go into books completely blind (no blurbs, no spoilers) so I’ve extended that same courtesy to these releases and included just the taglines. And they all sound SO good! 2027, you’ve got some serious reading expectations to live up to and you can consider me first in line at the bookshop. I’m keen to know which of these would you be grabbing first? 👇🏼 by @ashs.goodreads
📆 BEST READS OF OCTOBER A slightly slower reading month for me but quality definitely made up for quantity with FOUR standout 5 ⭐️ reads! October was a fun mix of kindly gifted sneak peeks, independent authors, books ticking off my 26 in 2026 challenge and some fantastic library reads. And in absolutely no surprise to anyone who knows my reading taste… crime took out most of the top spots 🔪😂 A few series favourites made the list too and there’s honestly nothing better than finding a series that just keeps getting better with every book. More please! Now with a week off work, I’m hoping to kick November off with a bang and squeeze in a few more reads before the end of year chaos begins. 🤞🏼 My fave books for October were: • Theo of Golden by Allen Levi (the most heartwarming, beautiful book I’ve read this year. I’m still thinking about Theo!) • The Cross by Ronni Salt (a brilliant follow up to Gunnawah packed with gritty Aussie crime in the ‘70’s - out late November!) • We Chase Shadows by Richard Osman (honestly this man could write about watching paint fry and I’d probably give it 5 stars. Love his books!) • The Switch by PA Thomas (a brilliant final installment in this coastal crime series - out in December) • Black Lies by Mercedes Mercier (the twisty crime thrills continue in this great psychological series) • Whistler by Ann Patchett (a heartfelt reflective story that completely won me over) • Melaleuca by Angie Faye Martin (a gripping crime story that was brought to life on audio) • The Swindle by Stuart McLean (a dazzling independent debut that had me invested in running, swindling and mateship) by @ashs.goodreads
🏝️ BREAK TIME My out of office is officially on as I soak up a few days off work. My aim is to accomplish absolutely nothing except catching up on lots of reading and turning that tower of a TBR pile into more of a small mountain 😅 Wish me luck! by @ashs.goodreads
👋🏼 MY BOOK VIBES Honestly right now I feel like my profile is giving you a pretty good idea of what you’re signing up for if you hit that follow button. 📖 Reading wishlists and a TBR that never seems to shrink
⭐️ Honest reviews including the good, the bad and the never to be read again
☀️ Bookish flatlays that make me wish I was on holidays
🎁 Giveaways because sharing the book love is half the fun
🛍️ Op shop and book fair hauls (my self-control is questionable)
👧🏼 Little bookworm reviews of gorgeous kids books
📆 Monthly favourites and all the bookish chaos in between Basically a little bit of everything, a whole lot of book love and absolutely no shortage of books I need to read 😅 This little corner of the internet started as a way to share recommendations with friends, and somehow it’s grown into an amazing community of fellow book lovers 🥹🤍 What a dream. Thanks for being here, enabling my reading addiction and making this little bookish space so much fun! Now tell me… what do you love seeing most on Bookstagram? 👇🏼 by @ashs.goodreads
📖 BOOK: Big Little Truths by Liane Moriarty ⭐️ RATING: 4.5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 📚 READ: # 116 OF 2026 🌟 Goodreads average: 4.14 📕 Genre: Contemporary ✌🏼 Vibe check: Domestic Drama, Family Secrets, Messy Parenting full review ⬇️ This was a chunky book, but in true Liane Moriarty style it was a very enjoyable one! Despite being a sequel, I was particularly happy Liane made it clear this could be read as a stand-alone, because I had very little memory of the first book… mostly because I’d only watched the TV series. I knew I loved it but it was almost 10 years ago since release! 😂 There was definitely a big cast of characters to get my head around initially but once I settled into everyone’s lives and relationships, I was completely invested in seeing how everything would unfold. I particularly enjoyed the little side story and the kids perspectives, which added another layer to the story and gave some really interesting insight into what was happening around the adults. There were plenty of moving pieces, secrets and relationships to keep track of, but I loved seeing all those little threads gradually come together. If you enjoy messy family dynamics, complicated characters, secrets, multiple perspectives and stories where everything eventually connects, this was a really enjoyable read. 📚 Reviews are posted in no particular order, just shared randomly as I go for you to enjoy! #bookreview #biglittletruths #biglittlelies #lianemoriarty by @ashs.goodreads
📖 BOOK: Head Cases by John McMahon ⭐️ RATING: 5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 📚 READ: # 66 OF 2026 🌟 Goodreads average: 3.99 📕 Genre: Crime ✌🏼 Vibe check: Clever Crime Solving, Slow Horses Style full review ⬇️ Current Ash was very happy with Past Ash for finding this book at a book fair but then not happy with her for taking so long to read it!! Luckily it was well worth the wait because this was exactly my kind of crime novel. Head Cases combines the high stakes world of FBI investigations with a wonderfully dysfunctional team of oddballs, creating a story that feels like Slow Horses wandered into a crime thriller and decided to start solving murders. I listened to this on audio and the narration by Will Damron was brilliant. Will brought so much personality to the characters that it felt like I was watching the team come to life rather than simply listening to a book. Each member of the PAR team brings their own quirks, strengths and baggage and listening to them work together was every bit as entertaining as the case they were trying to solve. This book was smart, funny in all the right places and packed with enough twists and investigative work to keep my crime loving heart happy. So much so that I jumped straight into the sequel on audio as soon as I finished! 📚 Reviews are posted in no particular order, just shared randomly as I go for you to enjoy! #bookreview #johnncmahon #headcases #slowhorses by @ashs.goodreads
📚 10 BEFORE THE END! The countdown is on to the end of 2026 and these 10 books are on my list to read before the new year is here! A fun mix of genres, a few kindly gifted reads from publishers and authors, some books to help tick off my 26 in 2026 challenge and plenty of books I’m VERY excited to finally dive into! This is a fun trend to get on board with and nothing gives me a kick up the reading butt to get my TBR books actually read than some social media accountability 😅🤭 Which one would you pick up first? Let me know below👇 by @ashs.goodreads
📚 THE LAST FIVE I jumped on this trend back in May and was keen to refresh to see how my reading life was looking lately. Every now and again I’ll read a few books in a row from the same genre and think ‘Is this it? Am I a full time contemporary/thriller/crime gal now?’ (dramatic I know! 😅) But nope! This goes to show my genre hopping is as good as ever, the purchases remain majority second hand (but I HAD to get my own copy of Theo) and audiobooks forever and always count! 🤩 by @ashs.goodreads
