Grateful for my new family in LA ♥️ by @ashwin_sm

I felt like like my heart would jump out of my chest going at 150bpm while I was sat on a chair waiting for the results of the Nikon Film Festival at The Grand Rex in Paris, on the night of April 27! What a historic venue. Several awards were announced and then we were getting closer to the end of the ceremony. By now one moment felt like there was no chance and another felt like we might be getting closer to something big! And then it was announced. Our film was played on the big screen. Truly unforgettable.

WE WON THE AWARD FOR THE BEST MISE EN SCENE AT THE NIKON FILM FESTIVAL, 2024!!!!

Feeling truly honored, grateful and proud for this tremendous recognition. Thank you so much @nikonfilmfestival @alexandredino from the entire team of Second of November.

To our team, we love you, missed you and can’t thank you enough for partnering with us on this incredible journey. This belongs to us all. The film will now be going to Cannes 😱

Staring into the void, emptiness becomes a mirror where we find ourselves - eliminating within us what we are not.

When a dog has eyes like these it’s hard not to a see a soul in them.

When everyone told us 13 was your last year, you pushed to 14. We got the same response and you pushed again. You pushed all the way to 18 and a half yrs.

It’s a mystery…how you shrunk a tumour in your chest, came back stronger from a heat stroke, recovered from kidney failure and peacefully died of old age at the end. It’s a miracle to say the least and for us to be a witness of such a feat is a gift and a blessing.

We will love you forever and always Brownie ♥️ thank you for being such a bright light during the darkest of times and a reminder of unconditional love.

To the Queen of Hearts,

Your compassion towards all beings whether human or animal will never stop being an inspiration to me.

I still marvel at the fact that babies and animals always gravitate towards you having had no previous interaction. (A real life Disney character lol)

You’ve always been compassionate, transparent and young at heart that having a mom as a best friend is the greatest gift that I am forever grateful for.

You are a woman of many talents and a soul so bright and full of joy. Making you laugh is what keeps us sane in this crazy world haha

Thank you for showing me and being the first example in my life of a woman as beautiful as you, who needs no make up and finds beauty in the smallest of things, never caring about material possessions.

You’ve taught us so much about compassion solely by being an example - talking to everyone you meet with the same level of respect regardless of status or background - and come to think of it, makes sense why animals are so drawn to you, because you meet them at their level so they feel seen and heard 🥹

Thank you for believing in us as a family and especially in me at times when I doubt myself. I wouldn’t have come this far if it wasn’t for you.

Thank you for continuously being a light in not only my life but I can confidently speak on behalf of everyone who’s met you that you are a light in theirs as well.

Happy Mother’s Day Mama. Keep shining ☀️

Love you ♥️
