The Compton Air & Space Fair was a hit 🚀🚀🚀.

It was truly magical to engage, connect, and inspire.

For years, Makiah Eustice has been working toward an extraordinary dream.

She’s become an aerospace engineer, served in the U.S. Air Force, worked in flight testing, helped create opportunities for aspiring astronauts, and lived through simulated missions on both Mars and the Moon.

But somewhere along the way, she started asking herself a different question.

What if reaching space doesn’t fundamentally change who you are?

This week on Aspiring Martians, Makiah joins Joe for a conversation about the space between ambition and anxiety, the pressure to succeed, and the challenge of pursuing something extraordinary without losing the parts of yourself that make you human.

We talk about her path into engineering, three analog missions, two all-women crews, what she learned about herself during the World’s Biggest Analog, and why creativity might matter just as much as technical expertise when humans begin building lives beyond Earth.

There’s also an unexpectedly wonderful story involving a Barbie-inspired music video filmed inside a simulated lunar habitat that you don’t want to miss!

Because apparently the future of space exploration can include both rocket science and pink LED lighting.

And we’re entirely on board with that.

🎧 Out now anywhere you get your podcasts.

This job market is awful, but I need to learn how to talk about myself eventually.

This change in my life is forcing me to do that!

I am an engineer, going into the space industry. Professional development, resume writing, and interview skills are hard for me. I speak for people are very ambitious and high achieving who also deal with alot of anxiety. My personal techniques help me navigate my "High Ambition High Anxiety" tendency for this next phase of life. Reach for the stars, and count your stars as well. by @astro_eustice

I'm just a girl with a 3D printer 😮‍💨
I should make one for my growing ring collection!

Never think I ain't going crazy in the background😅
Life is always meant to be balanced- I love giving my all and stretching what I think I'm capable of! I drive myself up the wall, but it has paid off!
How are all my high ambition STEM gals holding up? by @astro_eustice

I made it into a magazine?!

In the July Edition of @natgeo is headed by the story of the World's Biggest Analog, told through the lense of the "analog astronaut" crew members and the organizing forces that made it happen.
Executive Officer and photojournalist @cassandraklos_ featured our lunar crew that was in the Lunares habitat in Poland. Nat Geo Explorer @mackenzie.calle documented the Martian experience at the expansive Mars Desert Research Station.

Time to be (mildly) delulu to make my dreams happen.
I am an Aerospace Engineer, Air Force gal, aspiring astronaut, occasional designer of fashion and 3D prints, a graduate student, and too many things my brain forgets if I've slept since then.

I'm in my 30s I'll except being alittle "cringe" if it means doing some good. Join my shenanigans! 🥰🚀🛰 by @astro_eustice

It's time to anticipate success, not fear failure.

Among the last millennials to exit the 20s! I hope it's fun on the other side.
What would you want to hear if you had just turned 30?

📢 SPEAKER ALERT!

We’re thrilled to announce Makiah Eustice as a speaker for this year’s Spring Conference 🌟

Makiah Eustice is an engineer and officer in the U.S. Air Force driven by a deep passion for human spaceflight. Her astronaut dreams have shaped an unconventional path: one that includes three space analog missions, a parabolic research flight, space outreach, and even designing for a space-inspired fashion show. She has served as a flight test engineer planning and executing aircraft modification tests on platforms like the C-130 Hercules, and now works as a program integrator supporting space contract surveillance.

During our 14 Day Lunar Analog mission @lunares_hab research facility, Crew Nivalis decided to use some of our down time to have some fun. This analog mission was special as it was part of the @worlds_biggest_analog which was recognized by the @unitednations and will be highlighted in the July issue of @natgeo.

The Artemis 2 Crew could not say enough about the bond they created on their mission. Thanks to our training @iplabs.space and past mission experiences, Crew Nivalis was successful at not only completing our mission locked away in a tiny space from the outside but also creating a joyful and lasting bond that only we could understand.
