Today, 87 women in Canada will hear the words “It’s breast cancer.” Tomorrow, 87 more. 🎗 Close your eyes for a second and think of eight women you love. Your mother, who still calls to make sure you got home safe. Your sister, who knows every version of you. Your best friend, the one you text before anyone else. Your aunt, your cousin, the neighbour who waves every morning. The colleague who covers for you without being asked. About 1 in 8 women in Canada is expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. If it isn’t you, it may be one of them. And here’s what the statistics don’t show: it starts with a phone call. She’ll say she’s fine. Why a botanical experience? Because sometimes, a plant is more than a plant. Research continues to show that our connection with nature can support wellbeing and create more restorative environments. But I believe there is another kind of connection that happens when we experience nature together: the connection we make with one another. You might come to a botanical atelier because you want to learn how to propagate a plant, and leave having met a new friend. You might discover someone who shares your love of plants and becomes your new hobby partner. You might connect with a colleague in a way you never had the opportunity to before, meet a future collaborator, or even cross paths with someone who changes the direction of your life. That is why I founded Atelier Maison Verte. As a corporate designer and WELL AP, I wanted to create experiences that bring together the things I believe can make our spaces and our lives feel more meaningful: nature, thoughtful design, creativity, and human connection. Atelier Maison Verte creates curated botanical experiences for corporate teams, hospitality spaces, private gatherings, and community events. Every experience is designed to give people a reason to step away from their screens, work with their hands, slow down, and connect. Because in a world where so much of our interaction happens digitally, sometimes we simply need a reason to gather around a table, put our hands in the soil, and talk to the person sitting next to us. Nature is the medium. Connection is the experience. Welcome to Atelier Maison Verte. If you would like to bring a botanical experience to your team, event, or space, send me a message or visit the link in my bio. by @ateliermaisonverte
There is something so special about returning to a story that made you feel at home as a child. The little adventures, the friendships, the tea, and the feeling that there is always time to take a deep breath and notice the little things. In collaboration with @terraflowersflavours we are creating A Hundred Acre Botanical Tea Party, an intimate botanical watercolour and tea tasting experience inspired by the beloved world of the Hundred Acre Wood. During the evening, you will be guided through creating your own woodland-inspired watercolour while incorporating delicate botanical elements into your artwork. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy tea tasting and an evening designed around creativity, nature, nostalgia, and connection. You do not need to have any previous watercolour experience. You simply need to come ready to create, sip something warm, and spend a few hours somewhere a little slower than everyday life. I wanted this experience to feel less like a traditional art class and more like stepping into a storybook for the evening. This year also marks a very special milestone for this beloved story, making it the perfect time to celebrate its enduring charm through art, tea, and nature. I have limited the workshop to a small group so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a more intimate and personal experience. Join me at Terra Flowers & Flavours for an evening of botanical watercolour, tea tasting, and a little bit of childhood nostalgia. DM or Comment “WOODS” and I’ll send you the details. I cannot wait to create this little piece of the Hundred Acre Wood with you. #HundredAcreWood #BotanicalWatercolour #WatercolourWorkshop #OttawaEvents #ottawathingstodo by @ateliermaisonverte
Perhaps the most beautiful thing we cultivate isn’t a plant, its connection. When I create these botanical gatherings, I often think less about the skills we’ll learn and more about the moments we’ll share. A table thoughtfully prepared, hands working with soil, quiet conversations unfolding, and the simple joy of meeting someone new. The plants are, in many ways, the invitation. I’ve been reflecting on how important it is to create more opportunities for connection in our lives and within our communities. We never truly know what can grow from a single conversation. It may become a friendship, a creative collaboration, a new client, a business referral, a shared hobby, or simply a meaningful moment with someone we may never have crossed paths with otherwise. Wellness isn’t always found in another routine, another task, or another thing to accomplish. Sometimes, wellness is found in gathering. In slowing down, putting our phones away, reconnecting with nature, and sharing space with others in a way that feels intentional and genuine. This is why I created Botanical Nights at Atelier Maison Verte, an invitation to step away from the ordinary, create with your hands, connect with nature, and perhaps leave with more than a plant. Perhaps you leave with a new connection, a new story, or the feeling that you belong within a community. If you’ve been looking for a sign to try something new this season, let this be it. Come for the plants. Stay for the connection. Comment or DM “WORKSHOP” and I’ll send you the details for our upcoming workshop #ottawaevents #ottawatodo #ottawatourism #ottawalife #ottawaart by @ateliermaisonverte
