Hello. We’re ATTIK.

A creative studio built on decades of experience, friendship, creativity and a shared belief in good work.

Senior-led. Small by design. Curious by nature.
We bring together strategy, creative, communications, digital and audience thinking to help our clients find their story, communicate it brilliantly and connect with the people who matter.

This is the home of good creative.

Come on in. by @attik_goodcreative

Today, An Ocean & A Day is officially published.

More than 20 years ago we worked with Hannah as we started our careers in publishing. We had no idea where life would take us or that one day it would bring us back together around a book that would mean so much.

This project has given us a lot. The joy of working together and the chance to use everything we’ve learned along the way to help Hannah share this extraordinary piece of work with the world.

The whole journey has been full of golden threads. Friendships, publishing, creativity, love and loss somehow weaving us back together.

And today, as we celebrate Hannah’s astonishing writing, we’re also thinking of Matt.

Matt loved publishing. He loved books. He loved Hannah. And he believed deeply in her writing, supporting and championing her every step of the way.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful things about An Ocean & A Day is the way it reminds us that the people we love transform us.

Through their lives and through their deaths. Through the love they gave us, the things they taught us, the memories we carry and the ways they continue to shape who we become.

Hannah has taken something unimaginable and created something filled with hope and light. For anyone who has found themselves grieving, staring into the chasm and wondering how life could possibly carry on, we hope her words find you.

So today we celebrate our brilliant friend, this beautiful book and living BIG lives in honour of those who are no longer here to live theirs.

We couldn’t be prouder of you, Hannah. 🤍

Some projects become part of your story.
An Ocean and a Day is one of those.

Hannah and I have known each other for a very long time. We’ve shared offices, careers, families, friendship and more life than either of us could fit into an Instagram caption.

So being trusted with the cover of this book felt incredibly special.

An Ocean and a Day is a story about love, loss, hope and finding a way forward when life changes completely. I wanted the cover to hold some of that emotion without trying to explain it. The sea. The space. The light. Something beautiful, but with a sense of what lies beneath.

Standing in the story. Finding the idea. Making something that feels right, not just looks right. Working closely with good people and creating something we’re all proud to put into the world.

Today @hannahrichell begins her UK tour at Edinburgh Book Festival, and @studio49agency @bedfordsq.publishers and I are here, feeling incredibly proud to have played a small part in bringing An Ocean and a Day into the world here in the UK.

From those very first conversations to seeing Hannah take to the stage in Edinburgh today with @donnaashworthwords it feels like a pretty special moment. 🤍 by @attik_goodcreative

I have a secret.
I love designing pitches.
I always have.

There’s something about taking an idea, finding what makes it special and building a world around it that I find completely addictive.

Particularly in publishing.

Because a great pitch isn’t just about presenting a marketing plan. You’re helping a publishing house communicate its personality, ideas, ambition and point of difference to someone who may be choosing who to trust with years of their work.

Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to creatively lead pitches that helped secure some extraordinary projects, from David Attenborough and Charlie Mackesy to Dan Carter, Just One Thing and Stacey Solomon.

Most of the work itself will always remain behind the scenes. Design secret agent territory.

But the thinking sits right at the heart of ATTIK.
Find the story. Find the point of difference. Make people believe in it.

Storytelling is in our DNA. by @attik_goodcreative

We don’t really believe in sitting on the other side of the table.

The best work happens when we understand your business, your people, your audience and what you’re actually trying to achieve.

So we get close. We ask questions. We listen. We challenge when it’s useful. And we care about the outcome.

You get senior thinking from start to finish, with the flexibility to bring in exactly the expertise your project needs.

Close enough to feel like part of your team. Different enough to bring a fresh perspective. by @attik_goodcreative

Words matter. And so do the voices we make space for.

It has been such an honour to work on the social creative and Instagram presence for The Hilary Mantel Prize.

Created in Hilary’s memory by her friends and colleagues, the Prize continues something she did throughout her life: championing emerging writers and helping extraordinary new voices find their way into the world.

Our role was to help give that purpose a visual and social voice. Working with the existing Prize identity, we developed a considered social presence and suite of creative that felt literary, distinctive and worthy of Hilary’s legacy, while helping the Prize reach the writers it was created to support.

Because good creative isn’t always about making the most noise. It’s about understanding the story, finding the right voice and helping it reach the people who need to hear it. by @attik_goodcreative

Good creative needs space.

Space to think. Explore. Listen. Notice things. Change your mind. Follow the idea that wasn’t in the brief.

We don’t believe being permanently busy is the same thing as doing brilliant work.

So we’re building ATTIK differently.

We protect thinking time. We take lunch. We go on holiday. We read books, listen to music, travel, talk, laugh, live our lives and bring all of that back through the studio door.

Not because work doesn’t matter.

Because it does.

And we want to create the conditions to do our best of it. by @attik_goodcreative

How do you consult with a place used by millions of people?

Leicester Square isn’t one audience. It’s residents. Workers. Commuters. Londoners. Visitors. Families. International tourists.

Working alongside Comm Comm on the public consultation for Soho Estates’ proposals, we helped develop a digital-first approach designed around the different ways people experience the Square.

ATTIK worked across the project website, digital campaign and data collection, making the consultation easier to find, understand and take part in.

The campaign delivered:
154,000+ advert views
10,517 survey views
772 submitted responses

But the thinking behind it was simple.

Understand who you’re talking to. Go where they are. Make it easy for them to connect.

Creative that communicates. Ideas that connect. by @attik_goodcreative

ATTIK was created to be a different kind of creative studio.

Small by design. Senior-led. Collaborative by nature.

A place where good people can come together around a project, without unnecessary layers or a fixed agency machine behind them.

We build the right team around the work, bringing in trusted specialists when and where they’re needed.

A home for ideas, collaboration and really good work.

The home of good creative. by @attik_goodcreative

We believe living is part of the creative process.

The books we read.
The places we go.
The music we listen to.
The people we meet.
The conversations we have.
The things we notice.

Creativity doesn’t suddenly switch on when we sit down at a desk.

It comes from everything around it.

We want ATTIK to be a place where who you are and what you do don’t cancel each other out.

Bring your curiosity. Your taste. Your experiences. Your weird references. Your weekend. Your holiday. The song you can’t stop listening to. The thing you saw from the train.

Bring your life through the door.

It makes the work better. by @attik_goodcreative

Books, brands, campaigns, communities, launches, places and people.

Different projects. Same starting point.

What’s the story, and why should anyone care?

We believe the strongest creative starts with finding the thing that connects. The thought, feeling or idea that makes someone stop, understand, remember or act.

Then we work out the best way to tell it.

Through words. Design. Digital. Social. Experiences. Spaces. Sometimes all of them.

Storytelling is in our DNA.
Connection is the point. by @attik_goodcreative
