What if literary agents were looking for my story? I have to let them know somehow that the book is ready! by @audreycreativity

Was happy to hear writing wisdom from @mattzhaig last night at the @crossingborderfestival in The Hague. Matt said in some ways fiction is easier to write than non-fiction because in well written memoir you always have to betray someone! Resonated with me: the need to write as a means of therapy, but also seeking therapy when needed (sorry about all the repetition of the word “need”!)
Another piece of wisdom: when you’re not sure what your story is about, ask yourself: what’s the children’s book version of this story?”
And when deep in depression, give yourself a chance to go one more day, and one more day. Only the test of time can give perspective. I’d say this hold true for grief too. To quote Matt: “Uncertainty is another name for hope.” by @audreycreativity

Happy birthday to my youngest son! It seems like only yesterday I was squeezing you out at Nahariya hospital…
Then holding you back from running into traffic, then hugging you at a theme park when you got “lost” for two minutes, then making you wear an orange vest and a flag when you wanted to bike to school at the age of 9…
Your bar mitzva at the very open and gay synagogue:)
Letting you fly to the USA during Covid to do a semester at Cornell;
You falling in love with NYC !
Returning because what’s a man without a Masters degree?
And how you gather groups of fantastic loyal friends wherever you go!
Love you so much!

Stepfathers

They step in
When they can, treading carefully
Not to dislodge trust
Not to replace a soul
To add safety, caring, love.

Stepfathers have to give way
And hold tongues
And refrain at times.

But they know
when they are doing it right.
They know when the call comes,
To them, not to the mother or father.

Please help me,
Please advise me,
Help me learn…

Stepfathers might lose confidence-
Unsure if they have to educate?

But sometimes
If they’re as good as you are,
And can lend a listening ear
And show up, year after year…

They’ve been the best stepfather
One could ever have!

Thank you, Theo, for your wonderful support in raising these two wonderful kids, for being the “bonus papa” they have been ever so lucky to have! by @audreycreativity
