Oh happy heart Calloused hands dirty feet. Gardening to the beat of a deeper drum, an ancient thrum. Sun-kissed skin sweat glimmering the sweet smell of wet soil, fresh compost, endless toil. But the belly is full and the birdsong rich Tomato juice dripping from my lip Dreaming in the steeping of tulsi for a sip as marigolds caress me softly. Lambs and coyotes, Deer, hawks, and human neighbors all sharing this home, this temple, this farm a basket of colors swinging from my arm gifted to me from the earth I’ve tended these long summer months. Resilient beauty rippling out from seed. Care for the tender ones and for the beasts repair and feed from this three sister feast. Tangled roots and pole bean shoots catch us when we bleed Squash blossoms pregnant with possibility The green ones teach me patience and humility. I find sanctuary here with the honey bees. I sow the land with dreams of peace. 🌾🍅🫛🌻 Living out here ain’t for the faint of heart, but it sure has its glorious moments. Abundance of a more hearty kind than the manmade comforts of the urban sprawl. Sovereignty means choosing how we live, growing what we eat, and cultivating nourishment in community. It’s tough work. It’s so far from my upbringing in the city, but it feels like coming home. Honestly, I don’t have enough time to tend the land and the community and my own body and my creative career. I’m making sacrifices all the time to live in this proximity to the mother and my ancestral ways, and i still have so much to learn and integrate into my daily practice. And yet, it’s beautiful. It’s worth every drop of sweat, every early morning and hot afternoon offered to the places of mud and leaf, antler and bone. Every meal I cook is enriched with the microbes and water of this land and the love I’m pouring into her. I sing at the creek and dance for the trees and watch the birds perch on my corn foraging from the bounty I’ve grown and feel grateful that I can feed them. Every day I learn more deeply what it means to be of a place, to be made of this earth and to feel the veil of separation melt away. by @aurora_wakingup
Do you feel potential within you that isn’t being tapped? Or dream of a life you’re too afraid to fully embrace? Are you ready to free yourself of old patterns and step deeper into the art of movement and storytelling? 🐛 This Monday I offer the first class of a workshop series in shapeshifting through dance and physical theatre. It is through this practice that I’ve personally transformed into my most aligned and powerful self, which ripples out into the world in tangible ways 🦋 Join me each Monday 4-6pm at Jackson Wellsprings community room. These are drop-in but there is a natural learning curve so I recommend coming soon and staying a while. Link in bio for more info & signup. 🌀Step into this experimental space and stretch your mind-body connection. We’ll explore musicality, form & character… how our physical vessels can move through space and time as mythopoetic instruments. We’ll empty through meditation, play games, learn technique, dive deep into our inner worlds, and let our bodies become masks for the archetypes and stories brimming within 🎭 Come play with us and expand your expression in a way that feels authentic to you 💃 by @aurora_wakingup
SOMATIC WORKSHOP: 9.8:: “Fluid Friction” ~ Exploring Elemental Dynamics Through Dance with Aurora Quinn As the rains come pouring down upon the thirsty earth, we bring our devotional attention to the alchemy of water and stone, flow and constriction and the precious tension we find buzzing between the two… fluid friction.  Professional dancer-actor Aurora Quinn will lead a playful taster workshop in some foundational textures of dance as a storytelling medium. We will explore pathways of energy and expression in our bodies by stretching our imaginations as we stretch our muscles. Then we will practice traveling through space while letting these elemental forces guide us. When we strengthen the mind-body connection and feel safe to experiment, there is no limit to what we might discover in our own body on the dance floor.  With training in physical theatre, hip hop, modern dance, contact improv, and Butoh, Aurora thrives in the liminal space between boundaries. She is excited to share some of her medicine this Tuesday. Come play, and let our bodies be art in motion! . #dance #movement #motion #dancer #ecstaticdance by @aurora_wakingup

We got big dreams for this land and it’s gonna take a village 💛 #contradancing #barn #celticmusic by @aurora_wakingup
Just sharing a video I made for the Ashland Goddess Temple to support their current project of raising the Bee Hiven. This is a rite of passage temple for women entering menopause and cronehood, as well as an observational hive space where the magic of honey bees can be felt on a deeply somatic level. Full video & more info can be found on the Goddess Temple website. Please consider sharing or donating to the project, and find ways to support and honor the women in your life who might be going through these changes. There is always hidden power in the places our society has sewn shame. Blessed bee 🐝 by @aurora_wakingup

I just wanna bless up Crystal Mays, a friend of mine whose creative expression flows into many colorful forms. I’ve gotten to collaborate with Crystal on dance, experimental theatre, and my hair, which she manages to crystallize and level up in a new way every time. If you’re all about asymmetry, edgy flare, trying out new color combinations, or just working with an artist who cares deeply about listening to you, I can’t recommend Crystal enough! #hairstylist #haircolor #crystalizeyourhair Thank you @natalia.newman.photography & @rojavalle for stunning photgraohy by @aurora_wakingup
I’m so grateful for this journey Catherine has invited us on 🩵 The last few years of dancing with Tandem has been such a gift. My favorite moments from our shows are the heart-opening encounters of duets, which there are plenty of in this show like my duet with Catherine to Damien Rice’s “Delicate”. There’s also incredibly powerful and dynamic group choreos in this one, bringing in the largest ensemble of dancers we’ve worked with yet. Full video teaser coming this Friday! Come out to SOU Recital Hall on January 31st and let 12 exquisite dancers transport you into a potent dreamscape through music and movement. Chrysalis is about reemerging from the cocoon, the delicate dance between light and dark, and the cleansing power of water and community when the internal struggle becomes too intense.
