What a crazy phenomenal week; Anyways go Brewers 💙💛 by @austinfranz13
This Fourth of July week has had some of my highest highs, but my lowest low. I got to go to summerfest three times, go with friends and family, see artists I’ve wanted to see for a long time, and discover new artists that I will continue to listen to. Saw fireworks on the fourth and then ate hot dogs with some friends because.. well you know. On the third though, I went to a rodeo for the first time and then got a cowboy hat because why not, but right after the bull riding ended and the fireworks were about to start, my brother texts me to let me know that our family dog, my dog, Oreo passed away. I love that dog so much, he has seen me at every stage of my life, like quite literally. My parents got him shortly after we moved into our family house, and he has been apart of this family since. When my siblings went off to college he was always there whenever I just wanted to sit and watch tv, he would have one of his bones or would sit pretty and beg me for food. He loved car rides, like he loved the wind so much that he would try to join it. He knew so many tricks, but was also petty because he would bark to go outside, and if you didn’t take him out right then and there he would just go in the house. He most of the seasons because he could roll around in the grass, jump in leaf piles, and gallop through the snow, but if it was raining.. he would turn his happy ass around and go back inside. He also has the most distinct bark and anyone that’s bee to my house and heard him knows what bark I am talking about. I loved taking him up into my room and us sleeping together or just hanging out or just whatever. It sucks that he passed while most of us were down in Milwaukee, but I know he wasn’t alone. It’s been a really good 15 years with him and I already miss him as I’m at my parent’s house after burying earlier today. This really sucks but I know he’s no longer suffering from his old age and I hope that no matter where he is, he’s running around with his little bunny run that he has and terrorizing as many people as he possibly can. I love you Oreo, hopefully whatever happens after we pass, I can see and be with you again. Rest easy little one. 🕊️🐾🫶🏻 by @austinfranz13
Literally the best time of my life. Would love to experience this whole trip again and again forever, (hopefully I’ll be back senior year!!) next time though I’d get more photos with people rather than scenery, drinks, and food. Also, thank you @kaiamormino for the video of sami and I trying to play the drums with the band and @madison.j.lower for getting the short video of Hannah and I on the GLOBE STAGE!!! by @austinfranz13
“War Pigs” I felt compelled to create this piece after witnessing the genocide taking place in Gaza. It began in October of 2023 and is still occurring today. Their hospitals and their schools have been bombed and destroyed. All laws of warfare have been broken, yet we are still witnessing the continues terrors occurring in the Middle East being funded by The country I reside in. My main question is how can any human bring themselves to create such damage? How does one hold so much power to be the decider between life and death of a whole country. I have many questions that I know will be difficult to answer. During the choreographic process, I realized how intergenerational this feeling was. The feeling of hopelessness and despair. This feeling of helplessness and the want to help but having no clue how. World War l & ll, the Korean War, the Vietnam war, the Dessert Storm! There are Americans alive today that lived through witnessing All these wars take place on the news. There are Americans alive today that fought in these wars. All the people affected, all the lives taken, all the money waisted, for what? To draft young men and pull them from their family’s that they are providing for and protecting from this already crazy world, for what? I will never understand the business of war, how there are resources so important that they are worth killing for. As a child that comes from a large military family myself I wanted to depict what I see when it comes to war. The most glorified form of human trafficking. Seeing wildlife is the main reason I’d go back. We also saw a pack of wolves take down an elk, but I figured that’d be too graphic. Also saw other animals but didn’t get photos or good photos of them 🥲 1st, 9th, 14th slide were taken by @sully_spaay by @austinfranz13
For those that asked me, “Why are you going to Idaho? What’s even there??” This. This is why. by @austinfranz13
This is a little late, but it took me a minute to get the photos. But what a great show to introduce me to theatre at UWM!! Being able to perform in a blackbox was a very fun experience and everyone involved in this show has been amazing to work with. I know that the friends and memories I’ve made during this show are ones that I’ll cherish forever! Now, onto whatever is next!! Director - Steven Decker Stage Manager - Devin Luck Asst.
