now on YOUTUBE — “Against The Current,” is a short film documenting the artistic process of the legendary Skateboarder and Filmmaker, Stacy Peralta. Made in conjunction with his art show debuting at CCC gallery this fall and directed by Dana Shaw, it’s not just a love letter to a life of skateboarding but a celebration of the spirit of creativity and commitment. Stacy shares his various inspirations from childhood to present day, and the challenges and lessons learned while working to develop this new visual language in his iterations of these tools of joy from the past. The work also explores his temporal and obsessive relationship to the skateboard collection that intrinsically holds the memories of those ephemeral halcyon days. As well as the decay and degradation that entropy and time have on our prized possessions, and even ourselves. Stacy’s show opens on October 19th 2024 on the central coast of California, with a follow up show in downtown Los Angeles in late December. Ode to Da Unk.. Da unk was not lost Nor forgotten Just in hibernation in the Gilmore’s shed After her return from Mozambique A deep slumber for a slab of foam 54 years ago was born by two hands Yearning for the infinite expanse of a double overhead green room WINDNSEA Rip and swell One fin Yellow so bright still you can spot her up the point I’m flying with new wings passing the rocks of Lennox As the bait ball passes under me and the birds dive Out da back in line with the buoy History lives on and da unk is a testament To not forget To keep the good things alive Pass the stoke around the world and connect the tribes Chris Brock frothing out the mouth after seeing this place thousands of times From his house at the base of the point The legends are kind here Country is alive beneath the bustle If you speak to her She will let you enter the dojo Take what she gives you foo And say thank you Until tomorrow comes by @austingandler
Back in the day.. David and I had a bit of a bootleg show on the local college radio. We would host a new group every week to stream live on the FM airwaves. Dave would spin records for an hour while I set up the mics and dialed in the mixer. I cared more about Monday nights in the studio more than my schooling mostly. @fortunomusic stands as one of the highlights of over 40 groups that came through our tiny town. They are still making incredible music. Listen! For some reason I ran a ridiculous amount of xlr cables out of the studio, down the hall, and into the stairwell to record this one. Mixed from the top of the staircase. Mostly just sitting back and taking it all in. We ended up getting kicked off the radio for not playing ads on time I think. COVID started a few weeks later and shut the doors. I’m grateful to have these recordings to remember. Sometimes that’s all you need them for. by @austingandler
One wave from a sand bank that is no more. Shot by Teo @mrowlatemymetalworm_ Displacement Down Under now on YouTube 💫 in da bio y’all by @austingandler
I spoke to Austin on the phone yesterday and then made a minute long remix edit of one of the best displacement sessions I’ve ever witnessed, back in 2022. Soon we reunite… down under. Board is a Klaus Jones Evo III (we think) made for Keyo, but heard some interesting stories about it. Full edit on YouTube. @lifegridsonics @klausjonessurfboards @keyointl @keyo_usa by @austingandler

thank god for 26 by @austingandler
What if I told you all I want from this life is to create beautiful things for people to enjoy? Fins made by two hands with volan glass, iso resin, and Otways ferns. Musings from a winter on Waddawurrung land. Learning that country breathes, tools speak, and intention is everything. What happens if each pass of the sander/planer is a prayer? 10” modified Da Cat 7.75” custom 8” modified 4A 9” Liddle Narrow Base 10” modified Da Cat by @austingandler

✴️ Surf Trippin’ Japan (2025) ✴️ Had the pleasure of scoring an interlude in the new @_cvrrent film. To grow and witness our creative practices develop over the past many years has been something special and I always look forward to the next call with a new project idea. Keeping my artists close in this phase of life. Find it on YouTube for the full movie 🎥 by @austingandler
