Another graphic designed by two of my favorite teens, another book I can’t wait to share with young readers!

This all-female team made history sailing in an around-the-world race. Their inspiring true story is brought to life with gorgeous illustrations by @kamilla.sims. Out in 2027 from @familiusbooks. by @authorlauragehl

Flash forward 16 years and this little cow is dressing up tonight as a blood-covered horror movie character. Swipe to see what happened about 30 seconds after this photo was taken. by @authorlauragehl

Daughter had the job of keeping a friend out of her house before a surprise party. In order to make sure her friend didn't go home too soon, I asked them to do some "urgent" work for me, including making graphics for upcoming books. This is one of the graphics they created. I love it! It is so much better than I could have done myself! 🌧

I have a strong belief that author visits at schools with reserved parking spots are going to be amazing, and today was no exception. Schools that care enough to reserve a parking spot probably also care enough to prepare students for the visit. The kids at this school had been reading my books for the past five weeks. They were excited, they had lots of story ideas, they had fantastic questions, AND they were great listeners. What a pleasure to spend time talking about reading, writing and, especially, revision! by @authorlauragehl

We took a cooking class and learned how to make cavatappi! by @authorlauragehl

It was in the 80s here in Maryland last week, but more recently it has dropped into the 40s. Perfect weather for snuggling up with a good book and a cozy blanket. Yesterday, I finished The Husbands by @holly_gramazio, which was a perfect fun, lighthearted book to read under my beloved electric blanket. What are you reading this fall? If you have little ones, maybe these books will be a good fit! And if you are reading a great adult book, please let me know! by @authorlauragehl

Boardwalks are so innately appealing! It was a blustery day 💨, in the words of one companion. But it was still lovely walking here with two of my favorite people. by @authorlauragehl

Daughter and friend made these today…swipe to see how they turned out 😂 (to be fair, they tasted much better than they look!) by @authorlauragehl

Ry spent a few days last week helping his dad drive a lot of stuff and an adorable cat from Nebraska to Florida. This was my favorite photo from their trip, posted especially for @bryleegrof and @karapooh1. by @authorlauragehl

For the fourth year in a row, we celebrated Ryan’s birthday with a vegan feast. When the chef is brilliant enough, even this smoker-owning former Omaha Steaks employee doesn’t miss the meat.

I’m grateful to have a partner in life who is always up for anything, culinarily and otherwise! by @authorlauragehl

It’s possible we should have checked the freezer before buying more ice cream.
It’s also possible we should have bought two more quarts to complete the pyramid. by @authorlauragehl
