LINK IN BIO!! “A flame burns at the core of Briana Muñoz’s Matriarchy that both illuminates and razes social monstrosities. Fire is reignited as ceremonial copal, fire-keepers, wildfire, firewood, fire dance, Isr@eli fire, and more, in the context of eternal nature, our common lived experience, and the dying structures of the Patriarchy. You will find words in these poems that consume, transform, and regenerate in crisis and creation. It is an offering for our time and the future.” - Michael Warr, 2020 Berkeley Lifetime Achievement Awardee and Poetry Editor of the anthology Of Poetry & Protest: From Emmett Till to Trayvon Martin (W.W. 2 months ago, I was invited to read at City Lights Booksellers with some of my pressmates with @elmartillopress . As poets, City Lights is an ultra romanticized and sacred place. The epicenter of the Beat Generation, famous for publishing Allen Ginsberg’s “Howl” in 1955. A bucket list item checked off; all thanks to my compañeros Matt y David. —- And if you think me holding a seance in the poetry room is a rumor, I’m here to clear that up and say it happened. Manifesting more literary goodness in 2026 🔮✨ #poetry #poetsofig #bookstore #books #author by @awomanofwords
My new poetry book, Matriarchy, is now available for pre-order! LINK IN MY BIO to purchase your copy and stay tuned for book launches in San Diego, Los Angeles, and Albuquerque. Matriarchy, by Briana Muñoz, is a full-length collection of poems that puts the Indigenous matriarchal existence on the forefront of the fight for social liberation. Deep gratitude to everyone who read and blurbed my book. ELMARTILLOPRESS.COM “A flame burns at the core of Briana Muñoz’s Matriarchy that both illuminates and razes social monstrosities. If your poems aren’t pissing off a bunch of bald,right-wing men, are you even a political poet? Not pictured are all the many transphobic comments (for obvious reasons). We don’t give that shit any energy. My author page on FB is poppin’ off so of course I responded to each of their comments with a link to purchase my “hardly sacred” poetry book. Link in bio ~ https://gofund.me/cec8c1b0f GOFUNDME Update: $7,052 to meet our goal!!! At 10 AM PST today, we picked up Cuete from the animal hospital. He has been discharged with a cone and pain meds and will have to take it easy. We are happy to have him back home. His human 3 year old sister has been singing him songs to comfort him. He is loopy but he is on the mend. A quick update for transparency on the final invoice: we had a total of $10,159.74 charged to our credit card(s) as a placeholder yesterday when we approved the surgery and today at pick-up, they refunded $2,415.67. With that, our final total for his care is now $7,744.07. I will upload the invoice and update the GFM goal with the updated total. Thank you for supporting us with texts and reshares and of course, with monetary donations. If we can ever be of support to you in anyway, please reach out. - Briana, Johnnie, and Sequoia #xoloitzcuintle #xolos #mexicanhairless #xolodog #xolo by @awomanofwords
Our good boy is going through emergency intestinal surgery today after a foreign object created a blockage. Last week, I was already sitting down trying to figure out a plan to pay down some credit cards ON TOP of planning for an out-of-state move next month. I know this (credit cards and bills bills bills) is the case in almost every family in the U.S. right now so any share or donation is welcomed with immense gratitude. If you are able to donate $25 toward the vet bill campaign, I will send you a SIGNED copy of one of the below books so please private message me your address. -Everything is Returned to the Soil - Matriarchy: Sacred Poems If you have a copy already, gift it to a friend for their birthday. I will also follow up with a raffle once I get a good list of the items. Thank you! #xoloitzcuintles #xolo #mexicanhairless #xolodog by @awomanofwords
