--- 'March 8 with Stella', Best National Documentary award at 33rd Golden Boll Film Festival. The delibaration of the jury: "The winner of the Best Documentary award, 'March 8 with Stella', stands out for the strong trust and natural dialogue established between the director and her subject. Through an encounter unfolding over the course of a single day, and with an elegant and beautiful use of archival material, the film succeeds in opening a window onto the history of the feminist movement in Turkey, while evoking a powerful sense of struggle in the viewer." by @aylinkuryel

On Monday, July 27, at 8:00 p.m., three video essays—Where Was the Wall? A Diary of Intertwined Memories, Happiness, and Sweet Home Adana—will be screened at the offices of Syniparxi (5 Merarchias Archipelagous Street, Epano Skala). @firatyucels #meltemahıska @aylinkuryel @kinoyxo Whose Story? This screening brings together three video essays that approach the diary form as a space for both personal and political reflection. Through distinct aesthetic and narrative approaches, the films explore memory, testimony, place, violence, and everyday life, moving through the intersections of personal experience and collective history. Where was the Wall? A Diary of Intertwined Memories is a video essay that follows the traces of a diary written in Berlin, tracing the visible and invisible marks left by a fallen wall across the city while reflecting on ghosts, defeat, and memory. happiness is a desktop diary set against the backdrop of Palestinian solidarity demonstrations in Amsterdam. Oscillating between images of genocide and violence witnessed through the screen and the desire for collective struggle, it reflects on the tensions between screen and street, sleep and politics. Sweet Home Adana is a video essay that follows the traces of Marie, an Armenian woman from Adana who was forcibly converted to Islam, in search of a lost home and a fragmented memory. Moving between former Armenian sites of memory in Adana and the disruptive searches of treasure hunters, the film reflects on denial, forgetting, and the search for roots.

Diary as a Form: Whose Story? A program of personal and political shorts by Meltem Ahıska, Aylin Kuryel, Fırat Yücel, and Muhammad Nour-Elkhairy On 31 May, we are delighted to present a unique program of shorts in which the desktop screen becomes a surface where the interior and the exterior fold into each other. Alongside Muhammad Nour-Elkhairy's I Would Like to Visit and Fırat Yücel's mutluluk (happiness), join us for the Berlin premiere of Meltem Ahıska and Aylin Kuryel's latest short, Where was the Wall? Why we chose them: "We were drawn to how all three films take one of the most intimate forms in order to reveal the political world it's embedded in. From a diary tracing the marks left behind by the Berlin Wall, to a desktop diary caught between screens and protests, to an act of text editing as a contemplation on the border regime imposed on Palestinians, each speaks to the tensions of looking outwards to the streets or through online media while turning inwards toward memory, loss, and hope." Followed by a talk with filmmakers Meltem Ahıska, Aylin Kuryel, Fırat Yücel! Tickets available at sinematranstopia.de #linkinbio @sinematranstopia | Lindower Str. 20/22, Haus C, 13347 Berlin Duvar nereden geçiyordu?: Dolaşık hafızaların güncesi (Where was the Wall? Join us on the 6th of May for 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 – a film by @aylinkuryel, @firatyucels and Deniz Buga that documented the Amsterdam student’s refusal of accepting complicity and the statues quo within Western universities in times of broadcasted genocide. This filmscreening is part of 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 🌹 hosted by @iliadacharalambous in collaboration with @hetrodekeukentje and includes a collective reading with @spookstad.boo , centered on the publication Between Palestine and Us. 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗺: In 2024, Amsterdam became one of many cities where people mobilized against the systematic destruction of Palestinian lives and infrastructures. In the midst of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, students and staff organized encampments, teach-ins, and demonstrations, calling on the University of Amsterdam and other institutions to sever ties with Israeli entities. 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨 𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 is a collective video diary emerging from this moment. Filmed during the May 2024 student encampments and subsequent actions, it captures everyday moments of resistance, solidarity, and clashes, exploring a landscape filled with bodies, slogans, cobblestones, and dreams.  All proceeds of the dinner will go towards supporting 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙉𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙁𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝘼𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 in Nablus, Palestine; a grassroots organization doing crucial mutual aid work: creating safe spaces for kids & youth through tech clubs, theatre, football, and providing direct aid (food baskets) to families under occupation. Please do help us share the info about the fundraiser and get in contact with us for organising fundraising events together!! 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗼. 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 for more information on our guests.
This event is walk-in and aside from the food, we suggest 𝗮 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 of between 3-8€. The Basecamp runs on lots of passion and love, but little money. 📸 by @mateovega by @aylinkuryel
