Happy 4th of July, friends! 🇺🇸 This holiday is one of my favorites as a photographer, because fireworks are my FAVORITE thing to shoot! The idea of having a permanent record of something that is normally gone in an instant is so beautiful to me. (It makes up for how much of a challenge they can be to shoot!) I absolutely recommend trying to shoot these for anyone who wants to learn manual photography- these were taken in my own backyard! (Besides the final two, which were taken at the @universityofhouston Cage Rage last year!) Stay cool and enjoy tonight safely everyone! 🎆 #fireworks #fourthofjulyweekend #usa by @babsvickpics
The Flute Guy is Graduating! The past five years at the University of Houston have been the best time of my life. I've met people and learned lessons that have had an indelible impact on me. I'm so grateful for my time here and wouldn't trade it for anything. I arrived on August 14th, 2021. Fresh out from being an All-Stater, ready to see what music school was all about. A well-kept secret of mine is that I never marched in high school, so one of the first things I wanted to do was join the marching band. It was the best decision I've ever made. The Spirit of Houston has taken me places I never thought I would go and taught me about music in a completely new way. I learned that I could spread my wings and be a part of something bigger than myself. It was where I met some of the best friends I'll ever have and my Sisters in the bond of Tau Beta Sigma. I'm so happy that I get the opportunity to walk the stage. I'm from the household of a single, disabled parent, so tuition was always such a big barrier. However, because of the kindness and generosity of many around me at significant junctures in college, I can say that I am able to dawn my cap and gown and cross over into the alumni world. I am nothing without my shining community, and I will forever be thankful for all of you. I've performed inspiring music, composed pieces that mean so much to me, and taught in ways I never thought possible. I've become so confident, assured, and steadfast. I'm positive that I have what it takes to find my place in the world. I will take a piece of everyone and everything I have seen here. These memories create the mosaic of the man I am today. Thank you, University of Houston Spirit of Houston: 2021 - 2026 Cougar Brass: 2021 - 2026 Tau Beta Sigma, Tau Chapter: 2023 - 2026 Studios of Rob Smith, Marcus Maroney, Melissa Suhr, Aralee Dorough, and Tyler Martin Final Score? 10/10. See Ya! by @babsvickpics
Happy March Fo(u)rth to ALL the brilliant performers, past and present, that have given me the chance to capture their spirit through my lens. YOU have been the ones that reignited my passion in photography, and have given me such a special way to show my love for the marching arts. I cannot thank you all enough for giving me such a special opportunity… it means so much to still be a part of this special community even after I retired from marching for good. :,) ❤️🎶 #universityofhouston #marchingband #marchfourth #studentphotography by @babsvickpics
time to catch up on my long overdue football backlog… let’s start with the most recent TEXAS BOWL!!! my last shooting session of 2025… I can’t believe this year is over! while I did greatly struggle with my mental health this semester (hence why I’ve been sparse here…) I really do take so much pride in the work I’ve gotten to do for these groups. I’m able to fully appreciate that I’ve made so much progress this year- hopefully I can finally get a new camera (mine is FOURTEEN years old) and maximize it in 2026!!! thank you to every incredible subject that has allowed me to shoot them over this past year. YOU are the reason I have been able to grow and learn so much!!! here’s to 2026!!! 🤩🪩 #universityofhouston #texasbowl #studentphotography #marchingband #cheeranddance by @babsvickpics

since last week was bye week, here’s some… ⭐️THROWBACK FAVORITES!!⭐️ hope these snaps from last season (and even a teaser or two from basketball season!) are enough to hold y’all over 😏 for some context to these, last season, I worked in the Spirit of Houston as both a member of the baritone section (I ❤️ MY BARIS IN THE BACK!!) along with being a photographer for the media team. I was also a member of the Cougar Brass piccolo section (and one of a lucky few that went to the National Championship) and will be again this year! I didn’t figure out how to use masking until basketball season (you can tell 🤪) but it was my first chance to practice my candid work! so proud of how far I’ve come since then 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ hope everyone had a relaxing BYE weekend! see you guys soon with some exhibition snaps!! 🤩 #universityofhouston #gocoogs #houstonfootball #houstonbasketball #studentphotography #marchingband by @babsvickpics
🦬UH v.
