The truth about becoming an Olympic badminton player… 💛💚 by @badfitbadminton

HEY BADDIES 🏸❤️‍🔥
Welcome to BADFIT!

I’m Gronya Somerville, Australian Badminton player and founder of BADFIT. I’m your multi talented Badminton Olympian, Exercise Scientist and the greatest Badminton Coach you will ever meet with the sarcasm to match 😏

I’ve been through it all as a noobie beginner starting at 12 years old to grinding my way into the world top 20 to do little old Australia proud.

I learnt over time (through a lot of errors and injuries) what it takes to compete at the highest level whilst maintaining a busy life and your sanity (hint: Gym is on my ‘close friends’).

In this 1 year of BADFIT I have loved sharing my knowledge with all levels of badminton players to create programs for their development, improve their skills, manage their injuries and climb the world rankings (we just got our first National title in Estonia 🥇)

If you’re following this page, it’s likely you’re also super motivated to improve your badminton and if that’s the case, I’m your girl 🙋🏽‍♀️
So drop into my DMs, I’m always down for a chat and some baddie talk ❤️‍🔥 by @badfitbadminton

Your badminton game isn’t improving because you’re not using the N-word… NET SHOT, people. 💀🏸 Time to work on those badminton skills!

You’re missing easy wins if you’re not doing these 2 things to support your badminton & body!

1. Footwork patterns
2. Strength training

Both huge in strengthening the muscles needed to support your movements on the badminton court to make you faster and stronger in your game.

The drill vs the explanation…
A super important part of training is knowing how to feed a drill correctly and the intention behind what you are trying to get out of the exercise. Otherwise you could be doing it completely wrong.
Coaches explanations of how a drill should be correctly done and fed are super important to make sure you get it right.

Ever walk off court knowing you could’ve played better, but not really knowing what you need to work on? 🏸

You try to hit harder, move faster and practise more… but sometimes, more training isn’t the answer. Training with a clear purpose is.

The key is understanding what’s actually holding your game back, so you can stop guessing and start working on the things that will make the biggest difference.

That’s why match analysis is so valuable. 👀

You don’t have to be a professional to train like an athlete. You just need a plan that works for YOUR game.

💙 Want to find out what’s holding your game back? DM me “ANALYSIS” to learn about the BADFIT Match Breakdown.
