Argus Inherited (2020)

“ Told from the perspective of an Argus Automatic 8, a camera I got from my neighbors a while back. I look through light, gels, and reflective surfaces. My neighbors have since passed and I’ve always wondered what images exist on the celluloid. I intend to develop the film when social distancing is over. “

Our 11th filmmaker is @baileymaatita with @fadedyouthband ‘s music video Potion and Pills.

Potions and Pills is a totally tongue-in-cheek trip for SoCal alt-rock band Faded Youth, as they break through illusive archetypes of the Narrator, the Rabbit, the Patient, and the Doctor.

About Bailey
Bailey Maätita is a poetic director and production designer, born and raised in Los Angeles, who found direction in queer, experimental filmmaking while studying at SFSU. Their homecoming work, “A Production in Enthalpy” continues as an experimental short-film series based on the phases of matter, started in 2018 during their life in San Francisco and persists through their 20s in Los Angeles. by @baileymaatita

Another throwback with a SECRET CAVE! This was probably my favorite location ever! We needed a drug den where the illegal water was being stored and manufactured - and out of nowhere our locations offered up the cave in her backyard! So we never looked back!
We really source so much from the location on low budget projects.

Would anyone in locations like to be my friend?

Made these creepy puppets for some crazy guy’s thesis. It was my 3rd or 4th project- first time PDing two projects at once… and for some reason I’m doing it again !
On this project, I fell in love with night shoots and fresh ginger tea. I’ll share pics of the garage set later on ✨

Hello! My name is Bailey Maätita and I am a production designer. I have been designing since 2015 in high school and I worked with really good directors, so I think I get it!

And I am back to feeling like I did before learning about all the paperwork in college… 🤢
I went to SFSU for Cinema, and found that cinema studies was more interesting that I would have assumed! All of that information I still appreciate, yet it was more interesting then than production design thru most of college - one project I truly loved! You’ll see it later this year ;)

I remember now what it means to think like a production designer. And right now, for me, it means test runs! And planning! And graphics and costumes and the whole nine yards. I’m so honored to have such an extensive project on my horizon, which means I’m still looking for team members for my next project. If I’ve already talked to you, DW you’re still in, just looking to build as my plans get more involved!
