POSTS STORIES REELS

November 10, 2026 Event Change:

Our originally planned program with Alex George, @LilyPCrumbs, had to be rescheduled due to an unexpected family emergency. We send Alex and her family our warmest wishes and look forward to welcoming her another time.
For the updated event, we're turning to our own kitchens and bookshelves for inspiration. Some of the best recipes are the ones we share—along with the stories behind them.
Here's how it works: if you would like, bring a cookbook you're ready to pass along, as well as something baked from one of your favorite recipes in its pages. During the program, each participant will introduce their book, share what they've baked, and tell us what makes it special — the story behind it, a baking tip, what keeps you coming back to it. We'll taste one another's creations, swap notes, and then comes the fun part: each book finds a new home with another member.

Note: the recipe and cookbook exchange are optional. Your presence is most important!

As always, Foreign Cinema has a delicious lunch planned for us! Please join us! Register on our site--link in bio. by @bakersdozensf

Please Note: Our speaker has had a family emergency and can't participate, but we are working on a Plan B. Until then we've halted tickets sales. Check back soon for an update.

Join us for a special Zoom demonstration with cookbook author Domenica Marchetti, as she brings the flavors of Italy into our kitchens, with a deep dive into the art of Italian cookie baking.

Domenica will walk us through Quaresimali, a traditional Italian cookie with a fascinating story and a surprisingly delicious result. Similar to biscotti in that it is twice-baked, Quaresimali has its own distinct character and an intriguing technique — a meringue-like mixture is whipped and folded into the dry ingredients, giving the cookie its unique texture.

September 2, 2026.

Free to members. $25 for nonmembers.

Please join us for our Bake Ahead & Share with Alice Medrich from her book, Gluten-Free Flavor Flours on June 9th. 2026 at @foreigncinemasf. Lunch is included.

This will be a special bake-ahead event with Baker's Dozen original member Alice Medrich, as she shares insights from her book.

Alice will guide us through sponge cake and chiffon cake recipes that beautifully illustrate how different flours can transform the very same recipe. Simple yet exciting, these bakes are a wonderful way to see, taste, and feel the effects of alternative flours in fine baking.

Attendees are asked to bake a recipe from a list of her recipes and to bring them to share.

Alice will also discuss her book, her latest projects, and the inspiration behind her work. We'll also have a lively tasting and discussion as participants compare notes, share their results, and celebrate the creativity and delicious possibilities of baking with flavor flours.
