I still remember when he said it. I was walking with my family through the Sheraton, a day after the fires took everything from him. He saw my wife and said it. He was the first one to say it.

With tears in his eyes . "Hey Coach , Hey Auntie, it's all gone, my jersey burnt up in my house, my ball, everything. "

I couldn't think of anything else to say and so I said it.

"Fuck that fire we gonna buy every one of em back lil homie. "

Now that might sound a little harsh to say out loud to a ten year old but if you know Coach J, it's a wonder I didn't say a lot worse at the time .

So guess what, fuck that fire, we bought em back lil homie .

Said it couldn't be done but we still gonna try it, small things to some giants.

It's not what you get. It's what you give. It's all that matters.

Truth is none cares what you do for yourself over here, your value is determined by what you do for the next ones.
