Finally getting around to posting Furnace Fest in Birmingham, our first stop on the road trip to New Orleans! 🖤 Getting to see Bring Me The Horizon play Count Your Blessings for its 20th anniversary was a once in a lifetime experience and getting to scream along with Evan made it even better. My little emo heart will never recover. 🤘🏻🖤

Let’s talk about what I actually mean by that. Interest rates aren’t exactly making anyone jump for joy right now and I completely understand why buyers are hesitant. But I think we’ve gotten so caught up in waiting for the perfect time to buy that we’re forgetting something: your first home doesn’t have to be your forever home.

You don’t have to buy the dream house with the dream kitchen, the giant backyard and every single thing on your wishlist right out of the gate. Sometimes the smartest move is buying a home that fits your needs AND your budget right now. One that allows you to start building equity, get comfortable with homeownership and put yourself in a better position for that forever home down the road. And yes, interest rates matter. Your monthly payment matters. Your financial comfort matters. I’m never going to encourage someone to stretch themselves thin just to say they own a house. But what I WILL do is help you explore your options, understand what you can realistically afford and figure out whether buying now makes sense for YOU. The goal isn’t necessarily to get you into your forever home today. Sometimes it’s just to get you in the game so you’re better positioned for it tomorrow.

If you’ve been sitting on the sidelines because you think homeownership is completely out of reach, let’s grab coffee and talk about it. You might have more options than you realize. You may be out of pocket $0 at closing. Your mortgage payment could be less than your current rent! ☕️

No Bayberry Bird Dump today because what’s the point. It’s been a hard day and the one thing I wanted was to come home and sit outside with my birds. Unfortunately, my neighbor’s roof runs right alongside my porch and he’s practically been living on it lately. So no peaceful backyard, no crows, and no pictures. I’m feeling pretty discouraged about social media in general. I put a lot of time and effort into what I share and sometimes it feels like I’m talking to myself. I know nobody owes me their attention or engagement, but it’s still disappointing. I can look like an idiot in the privacy of my own home without sharing it with the entire internet. I think I’m just tired of putting myself out there today. Mahjong with fellow realtors turned friends definitely helped. Hope everyone got out and voted. 🫶🏼 by @bama.sells.ky

The daily bird dump nobody asked for or cares about is back! 😂 Today’s highlight was FINALLY finding the Cedar Waxwings that have been going absolutely nuts on Merlin but somehow manage to disappear every time I grab my camera. Also featuring a hawk that was getting harassed by the neighborhood crows, some very handsome grackles and the usual backyard suspects. Another day of being way too invested in the personal lives of birds.

Today’s looks a little different! CROWmies, today I caught a blue jay doing a Cooper’s Hawk impression and quite frankly, uhm…iconic. 😂 DID YOU KNOW?! Blue jays are cousins of our beloved crows and can mimic hawks so convincingly they fool other birds!? Scientists aren’t entirely sure why, but one theory is that they’re scaring competition away from food. Go off sis. Get those peanuts. It’s evenImagine trying to enjoy breakfast and some blue asshole starts yelling HAWK. 😭

🔊 SOUND ON. This is SO cool.

“If you can’t summon the flames directly from hell, store bought is fine.” 🧙🏻‍♀️🎃 And if you’re going to get fired as someone’s Realtor on your favorite holiday, you might as well be dressed as Ina Garten when it happens. 😂

What a Halloween weekend! We hosted our annual party(4th), had some of our favorite people stay with us, built birdhouses, wandered around the Arboretum, grabbed coffee and attended another Halloween party where yours truly won Host’s Choice as the Barefoot Contessa herself! 😂 Somewhere in the middle of all that, I also got fired by a real estate client. Happy Halloween to me! And the funny thing is, I’m not upset about losing the client. Not everyone is a good fit and that’s okay. What bothered me was having my honesty and work ethic questioned when I was actively doing my job, communicating and following up on something outside my control. I can laugh about the timing, but that part genuinely hurt my feelings.

I’ve spent most of my life being the funny one. The girl making jokes, dressing up, looking ridiculous and trying to make people laugh. I love that about myself. But I’ve also worked really hard to build a career I’m proud of. Sometimes I wonder if people see the funny and forget about all the work happening when the camera isn’t rolling. Why does being funny sometimes feel like something I have to overcome to be taken seriously? I don’t want to become some overly serious version of myself just to prove I’m good at my job. I want people to know they can laugh with me AND trust me with one of the biggest decisions of their lives. Those things can coexist. And I’m grateful to those than can see that.

So Halloween came with an unexpected trick, but it was still a pretty wonderful weekend. Good friends, good memories and a reminder that I don’t have to be everyone’s cup of tea. Even if Ina would probably serve it in a really expensive mug. 🫠

A little field trip for today’s bird dump! Our friends are in town so we took them to the Arboretum to show them the owl tree and managed to get some pretty great shots of one of the Great Horned Owls and what I believe was a Cooper’s Hawk! Back at Bayberry, the yellow rumped warblers are still showing off and I physically cannot resist taking a picture of a mourning dove. They’re just too damn cute. 😭 Happy Halloween, CROWmies!

When you marry the spooky girl, vacation is spent by the cemetery instead of the beach. Still day dreaming about New Orleans and the French Quarter. Soooo many skeletons to look at too!

Olmec has spoken! 🗿Evan and I are ready to cross the moat, conquer the Steps of Knowledge, and assemble the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Legends of the Hidden Temple, Halloween edition! 🎃 by @bama.sells.ky

Today’s highlight? The crows letting me sit outside with them while they enjoyed their peanuts. Slowly becoming part of the murder and I couldn’t be happier. 🖤

Only one newbie today, a blue headed Vireo and the picture was absolute garbage. So enjoy these pretty okay ones instead. 😂 The Blue Jays REALLY showed out today over some peanuts. I know yall care.

Super busy today trying to make things happen. Not many pics. Loving all the white throated sparrows, a yellow rumped warbler at the bath, and the crows hanging out in the exact spot where Evan and I got married 🥹🖤
