Since I started following Andy's incredible Datsun build (@banshee_240z ) online last year, I've been dying to see it in person. It only took three different trips to the UK for our paths to finally cross, and I got a chance to pore over this stunning build at the April Bicester Scramble this year.

What started as a fairly standard 240z has been widened, lowered, pushed, pulled, stretched and upgraded into one of the coolest and most personalised modified cars I've ever seen, a rolling testament to Andy's design background, love of fabrication and engineering, and his eye for style.

The immediate element that jumps out to you is the mismatched body colours, but look closely and you'll see that the entire front end is made from raw exposed Kevlar, laid up and made by Andy himself! This car is a huge inspiration for my own raw carbon Eunos build, and I can only hope that I can learn and progress my composite skills on my own project half as well as Andy has here.

The engine bay is full of jewelry designed by Andy too, from simple but intelligent bracketry, up to dual-velocity intake stacks on the throttle bodies and never content to settle, at the time of our meeting he had just finished his first prototype CNCd suspension arms, entirely of his own design too. I can't wait to see the car again soon, because it's evolving and improving at such a rate that there's always something new to look at! Edit: my explanation here is not correct, there is a very small bending component to the loading on the inner joint.

Hopefully this helps to clear things up a bit!

@retroridesofficial @retroridesevents Weekender was a blast! 300 mile round trip on Saturday was no problem for the Z. Honestly one of the most fun car shows I’ve ever been to, the double decker on track during track sessions was unhinged! I shot film so just phone captures for now!
