Historically, pockets have evolved from external bags, to wearable pockets, to sewn pockets in or on garments, and back and forth between all those again and again! Now we're in an age where they are expected but often not nearly big enough to really be helpful. Or strong. Baseborn pockets are deep and sewn with french seams meaning there are two seams to break through, so your trinkets are safe 🌰 Wearing the Bloddwymer Skirt and Olyffe Shirt with green trim 🌿 #sewing #linenclothing #historicalclothing #folkcreative by @baseborn.co
Textures 🌿 linen and lace 🌿 Inspired by folk shirts and working smocks from the late renaissance to 19th century. And not just any lace, but from a traditional Nottingham lace factory, supplied by the Tudor Tailor. I have long admired the books by @thetudortailor and so this joining of worlds is a treat for me, and hopefully for you too. Visit tudortailor.com for more 16th century sewing supplies. #historicalclothing #linenclothing by @baseborn.co
What is your favorite talisman of the autumn days to take with you into winter? I adore Hawthorne, the white flowers bloom in late April ushering us gently into the spring. And October's waning heat brings the berries in to add a bright red jewel to the lengthening nights. How beautiful 🔥 Wearing the white Renaissance Shift and black Bloddwymer skirt, both available in the shop 🤍 #linenclothing #smallbusiness #slowfashion #historicalfashion by @baseborn.co
