October!! What a month! Here’s what I’m taking with me: - Halloween costumes throughout the month, Marty Mcfly, James Dean, AND Phoenix Wright - Ace Attorney nights on Tuesdays - Finding a REAL DeLorean car in the church parking lot (if only I had my costume on at the time!!) - Making a week long vlog with Jack and overall just having so much fun together, really thankful for him in general - Saying goodbye to Brandon and spending time with him before he moved back to PA - Seeing Switchfoot AND Jack White at The Truth in the same week - Taking Jaedyn to her first concert since moving - Watching Tennessee football and Arcane with Ryan and just chilling on Saturdays together - Making a silly Halloween movie with Dawson and friends and then watching it together on the 31st - Getting some of my favorite photos (and people) printed for our fridge in the apartment, and remembering sweet memories Overall, a wonderful and long month. It felt jam packed with fun experiences and time with friends. I’m excited to see what November holds as we continue to finish out the year… The big challenge I’m taking with me from this month is do we believe in the power of prayer? If so, why is this not a big aspect of our lives? God is preparing my heart for great things but I also am still stuck in the middle of some of those, waiting and searching. Everything has a season, but am I truly seeking out the Lord in the midst of this present time. Regardless of my past or future, am I choosing to listen to Him today? Anyways, just something I’m stewing on. Pray for me, pray for others, pray for your church! Treat God as though He’s life changing! (He is!) - Josiah by @batemanbridgemusic
September, everything is changing so fast. Here’s the moments etched in my mind from the past month: - Late night talks with Jaedyn and being the annoying older brother that I was born to be - D-group adventures with my guys and splitting Wachos - Shaky Knees in Atlanta with Bryce and seeing SO many bucket list bands in person - Getting closer with Jack and making each other laugh during Endgame in the theater - Helping Kass move into her apartment and seeing her enter a whole new era - It’s finally sweater season and of course that means listening to The Smiths while wearing cardigans obviously - Seeing Geese at the Ryman with Brandon in the front pew, how did we get away with this?? Every Fall I’m reminded of how fleeting life can be, a blink and you miss it moment. I’m thankful for chances to slow down and relive those memories knowing that they did in fact happen and I’m truly beyond blessed in my life. It’s easy to wonder why some things happen as they do or if things would’ve been better had they turned out differently. Ultimately, we keep on moving, we’ll see what’s around the corner. “I wouldn’t trade one stupid decision for another five years of life…” - James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) Talk to you soon ok? - Josiah by @batemanbridgemusic
August, ahhh the summer comes to an end, going away like the last sip of lemonade. Here’s what I’m taking with me: - Going to Dollywood, the Tennessee State Fair, AND Holiday World with friends - Having a gloriously emo week by seeing American Football, My Chemical Romance and Joyce Manor live in Nashville all within the same week at separate shows in totally unique venues - More brotherhood within my friends at work and just being excited to see each other and pour into each other’s lives - Chicken and Waffle release at Chick-fil-A - Important, truthful and life giving conversations with friends even when situations feel unpleasant or difficult - Explaining some my favorite music to Jaedyn and walking through the history of My Chemical Romance spontaneously one evening - Seeing Jaedyn really fall into knowing she has a new home here in Tennessee, not just being known as “Josiah’s sister” but as someone who individually belongs All in all, a unique month, one filled with thrills and also some true low moments. Somewhat of a bipolar month if you ask me. Not from a mental state fully, but just when I think back there were a rapid amount of highs and lows. One with challenges but also growth. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to avoid certain aspects but hey it’s a new day. Another chance, another laugh, another smile, another breath. “I am not afraid to keep on living…” Welppppp, onto the fall. I’m ready to wear jackets… - Josiah by @batemanbridgemusic
July was quickly engulfed by being in the Czech but here’s some other things I wanted to remember… - Playing my first show in Nashville - I chopped off my lovely locks before going to a country with hardly any AC - Laughing until tears came out at work on multiple occasions, I love my boys - Getting stuck in Philly and having a very mid cheesesteak right before flying 8 hours - CZECH REPUBLIC OBVIOUSLY, all the people, places, and moments I don’t wanna forget (see previous post) - Growing even closer with Daws and Ryan through our European adventures, I’ve got so much love for them I’m a little behind schedule on this recap, and it feels like so long ago but I felt the need to treasure these memories. How beautiful it is to look back on how God continues to provide! Even when caught in the muck of the day, hour, or minute, one must remember that the Lord had us then and continues to have us now, planted firmly, yet gently within His hands… - Josiah by @batemanbridgemusic
2 weeks away from home, 2 weeks of Czech Republic becoming another home… Sheesh where do I even start? This trip was absolutely wonderful. Being able to help at Multicamp and then even spend some extra time encouraging and hanging out with leaders and Young Adults at Elim church in Pisek was a gift. While at times there could be a language barrier, I was quick to realize the special unity within meeting believers around the globe. Let me shine a light on a few takeaways and favorite moments… Daws and I had the chance to sing every morning in our leader meetings before camp started for the day and that was such a surreal feeling. Being able to lead in worship so far from home, singing along to songs we all know and can shout out together, what a special moment to share. My discussion group during camp was so cool, being able to sit in when they are primarily speaking Czech but feeling accepted in the conversation nonetheless through some moments of translation and bonding over personal stories and funny jokes. The camp itself is a wonderful example of sharing the gospel in the midst of also teaching skills and building community. I loved seeing the heart the leaders have for these students and their willingness to pour into their lives throughout the week and beyond. I met so many wonderful people, leaders and students alike. So many amazing faces I will be remembering and praying for by name. You know who you are! :) Pisek and Prague were gorgeous to visit! I will admit that Prague is perhaps a little too touristy for me, but Pisek was stunningly beautiful. The buildings, the roads, the shops, the food, the gelato! I had a hard time not just taking a picture of every view I had while walking around. Also I got to see my dear friends, the Linns, because they were, by God’s timing, in the Czech at the exact same time we would be! What a blessing and encouragement to see and hear from them! The amount of gospel conversations our team of five was able to have throughout the two weeks was incredible and so encouraging to see. The Czech remains a largely atheist country, please be praying specifically for Elim church in Pisek! Thank you for praying! - Josiah by @batemanbridgemusic
So many June memories I don’t wanna forget about! - Big one, Jaedyn moved to Tennessee and became my roommate so that’s been crazy to have siblings back together in a new home and era - Tons of work shenanigans including some wild Quiplash answers during lunch and reoccurring jokes - We got colored bulbs for our apartment and the aura has increased 200% - Went to Music Trivia with Brandon and we lost by just a hair - D-group with my work boys has also turned into me hosting games nights afterwards at the apartment so we’ve had some insane Halo and NBA Jam tournaments right after encouraging and fruitful discussions - Got to go to Utah (see previous post) and help at camp there All in all, an important month full of life change. It’s been super special having Jaedyn here and I can’t wait to see how she continues growing and integrating into this new community. Very thankful for so many friends that have been so inviting, and it continues to remind me of how blessed I felt last year having a very similar experience. Much love from Tennessee! - Josiah by @batemanbridgemusic
July 6th - The Underdog, my first live show since moving! It was a blast getting to be back behind the mic and sing a few new songs and some covers as well! I appreciate my friends being able to come cheer me on during a random Monday night. Thanks for the footage guys! <3 Hopefully this is just the beginning, I’m excited to get another show on the books soon and MAYBE have a backing band for the next one… by @batemanbridgemusic
Greetings from Salt Lake City! One of the best things I was able to do in June was be a part of a small young adults team going to help out at a short summer camp in Utah. I didn’t grab too many photos during the actual camp because I wanted to be fairly present for moments and conversations that might happen so here’s a bunch of photos of Bryce and I on this adventure! :p The team had an absolute blast and it was an awesome opportunity to get to know each other more, step out of our comfort zones and even have chances to share the gospel with people in the LDS community. Utah is a wonderful place, but is also filled with much spiritual darkness as people continue to believe in something contrary to God’s Word. Please be praying for the churches and believers trying to reach their communities within SLC and the greater Utah area. We had the chance to do some incredible sightseeing before camp! Bryce and I drove our team in a big van and played our music way too loud much to the annoyance of our lovely group of ladies in the backseat. Let it be known that we would GLADLY do it again!!! Jokes aside, this was a wonderful and eye opening trip, and I hope it’s something that sits with our team long after the summer. I know it impacted us all, but stretched and strengthened our faith. I’m thankful for the opportunity and can’t wait to go to the Czech Republic in a few weeks for another missions trip and hopefully I’ll have many more stories to share very soon! by @batemanbridgemusic
May… Here’s what I’m taking with me: - Skateboarding with the crew, and accidentally giving myself a gnarly bruise - Insane ping pong tournaments after work - Watching Tues get baptized and getting to celebrate that with her - Cookout by the lake with the boys and sharing our life stories late into the night - Kif Kif adventures and talks with Logan on the bus - Goofing off at work and having fun while serving our church - Almost getting to meet Mac DeMarco after a show at the Ryman which we didn’t go to but Brandon and Bryce showed up with me after a long hard night - Really just recognizing and appreciating how much of a brother Bryce is to me, so many moments and times of encouragement or even just sitting together to play Lego Batman and laugh A fun month for sure and one that was filled with ups and downs that may not be completely evident from these memories but I’m thankful for everyone in my life and the people that continue to pour into me. - Josiah by @batemanbridgemusic
April, you honestly felt so long. Let’s see if I can remember all my favorite things from this month: - Free Twenty One Pilots show in Indianapolis and first time seeing them live - One of my favorite people and best friends, Tuesday, gave her heart to Christ the night before Easter and I got to be there for that incredibly special moment - Goofing off with my friends on set up crew at the church every day, what a surprise blessing they have been to me - Insane goodwill finds with Kass and Daws in the midst of an incoming tornado - NBA Jam battles during lunch that had us locking in harder than ever (shoutout Barkley and Rodman) - Little Caesar’s run at 10:30 in the morning paired with an impromptu dance party at work - Late night conversations with friends who truly and deeply care about me and remind me that I am loved and appreciated even in the midst of temporarily feeling the opposite - Seeing God show up in so many ways, prayers being answered swiftly, and feeling His hand on my life and my path Sheesh, it’s been a month lemme tell ya…Lots of highs and lows, but once again, through everything seeing The Lord’s faithfulness. He has GOOD plans for me. Why fight against that? In times where we think we know SO much about ourselves and how our life should go, ironically enough, it’s then where we get hit with the realization of how small we are and how big God is. How gracious a God that he lets us discover who made us. Wonderfully made, unique and individual, yet valued with such an unfathomable intensity by the Lord of all. That should floor us. His love is enough. - Josiah by @batemanbridgemusic
Let me go back in time and revisit some of my favorite moments of March: - Creating an Outer Wilds themed scavenger hunt for Ryan with Jack and having a surprisingly emotional ending as we watched the sunset together - Playing through the new Resident Evil with Bryce and laughing at every Leon one liner - Going to California for Collin and Sav’s wedding and giving a speech on how much Collin has impacted my life - Visiting Yosemite (twice) and going to Pismo Beach before leaving Cali - Jam night with the boys (plus Kass) - Serious late night talks with my “brothers” - My sister Jaedyn doing an impromptu trip to stay with me for a few days - Seeing Jaedyn get along so well with my TN family - Watching Project Hail Mary in 70mm IMAX - Getting closer with my friends at work and seeing them also grow in our discipleship group - Celebrating Kass on her birthday and seeing her be cherished by so many people around her - Watching the 3hr 10min vlog that Dawson created from our adventures in California and just getting to relive those memories in all their sentimental, silly and slightly inappropriate glory What a month, it literally felt so long but was jam packed with wonderful moments. I won’t lie, there were some tough things about March for me, but I am leaving this month ultimately encouraged and excited by how my life continues to progress in Tennessee. As always, I’m thankful for those around me, I can never say it enough. Much love! - Josiah by @batemanbridgemusic
A visit to Pismo Beach! Cold water on our skin, the setting sun blinding our eyes as we gaze at pure magnificence. As I sat along the shore beside a sea lion (yes this really happened) napping on the small pebble beach, I listened to the calm of the ocean. Such power, and such gentleness. In many ways, mirroring our God. With nothing but the tide and the occasional arf from Oscar, I felt as though my mind was at ease. Amongst the questioning, the doubt, and confusion in this present time of my life, I was filled with an unmistakable peace in knowing the Lord continues to provide despite every heartache and frailty. Now I know what Jon Foreman means by sitting out by the ocean with nothing but the wind and waves… by @batemanbridgemusic
