Matthew 7:7 • I was talking to my students today and reflected on the time when I used to practice my trumpet in my garage. The favor of God and the skills I developed all those years ago led me to the Grammy’s stage yesterday.

Got to college and majored in business. “Sometimes it don’t go your way” and I’m so grateful it didn’t!

I’m eternally grateful to @tanishascott @illi.bee and @hermusicofficial for the opportunity to share my gifts, @eyeconicash for styling and making us look and feel fly on and off the stage, and my sister @ryckjane for calling me. Sharing the stage with my band son @thattrumpetguy_ was just the icing on the cake.

I hope everyone reading this knows that when God has His hand on you, do NOT hesitate to use your gifts. Shoot your shot! by @bcomposed

I had the privilege of arranging this tune for the Virginia State University @vsuband for their @the_honda performance today. Outstanding job, band! by @bcomposed

I’ll never take for granted the opportunity to share my gifts with @themarching100

When my middle school band director Mr. Tim Nance introduced me to arranging, I really did dream of one day writing a ballad that the Marching “100” would perform at halftime. I’m truly humbled and honored that the dream became a reality this past weekend in Bragg Stadium. God is good.

Thank you again, @hubbadoc for your leadership and for holding that note at the end 😂

Q3.26 - “Gradually, then Suddenly.” Hebrews 11:1 by @bcomposed

To keep my sanity during grad school, I quietly make time to try my hand at live arrangements. Here’s my shot at @victoriamonet ‘s new single “Juicy”. #livearrangement #livearranger #music #arranging #victoriamonet by @bcomposed

The FAMU Freshman Class of 2006 would like to continue its Donor Spotlight Series:

Name: Brandon Cunningham
Location: State College, PA
Occupation: Music Educator

What Does Being A Rattler Mean To Him: FAMU gave me every opportunity to foster the relationships and skills I’ve used to navigate every environment of success I’ve encountered.

Why He’s Supporting Our Rattler Remix Campaign: The opportunity to be a rattler means everything, and I decided to give back so that the current and future Rattlers could have the support they need to hopefully have that same experience.

Favorite FAMU Memory: My favorite FAMU memory has to be marching in Barack Obama’s inaugural parade with the “100”. Such a historic moment that I’m grateful to have been a part of.

Thanks classmate for your commitment to our class endowment and supporting the future of student success at our beloved FAMU. 🐍💰

Arranging for Marching Band

Tip 3 - FORMAT the arrangement.

As you listen and consider the boundaries set by the director and function, you’ve got to decide what to cut and what to keep while keeping a steady flow.

Arranging for Marching Band

Tip 2 - FAMILIARIZE yourself with the music.

As an arranger, you’ve got to LISTEN before you write and ask yourself: what makes the song, THE SONG?
