And sometimes my dreams occur exactly as I dreamt them. Stepping into the Hagia Sophia was a surreal moment, standing right there on the fault line where East and West collide. She has survived nearly 1,500 years of human conflict and geographic change which should be astounding to anyone who reads this. You can feel the echoes of the Roman Empire overridden by centuries of Ottoman and Islamic rule. One of the most fascinating details to look for in these photos is on the walls, where you can actually see how the original glittering Byzantine mosaics were plastered and stuccoed over, hiding centuries of early art right beneath the surface. It makes me think of the Ship of Theseus with so much layered and replaced over time. Is Constantinople really Istanbul? At this point no, not really, but the Hagia Sophia is still breathtakingly beautiful and absolutely well taken care of. Its existence is a testament to the human capacity for love and understanding. by @bcswmst

Right after Big Sur I got dropped in Koreatown. Spent a few days living like a local — work, gym, eat, repeat. Even pulled a few shifts in the LA office and spent some time in a cyber cafe while I was there. Highlight of the stop was the saunas, including Beverly Hills Hot Springs. Felt like a small preview for the actual trip to South Korea a few weeks later. by @bcswmst
May 2026 — Big Sur The highway was finally open again and the weather could not have been better. Huge thanks to @verymidgolfer @versesvsversus1 and @abrav_o for the hospitality and passenger princess treatment. Hit a lot of the landmarks, ate at Nepenthe (still thinking about that view), and somehow still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface. Already looking forward to going back. by @bcswmst

Muir Woods / Bay Area April 2026. Work sends me to Oakland twice a year now. I have estimated that I will have the redwoods and SF completely mapped out by 2030. by @bcswmst

A very special Christmas at the Eastside Bowl. Started and finished 2025 with Jesse Lacey shows at a bowling alley in Nashville. His personal sound has been most definitely influenced by the honky tonk but since Vinny showed up they played a few @brandnewrock songs too. by @bcswmst
