I can't believe it's already been a year since I've published my debut poetry collection "Juniper." When I started writing this book, I didn't realize how much it would change my life. I went into it completely blind and had pretty low expectations. From an outside perspective, it may not seem like I've accomplished that much. It may not seem like my life is all that different. But, my inner world has been completely transformed since the day I first started working on this book. "Juniper" has impacted me in a big way and I can't help loving it and everything it has given me. It's my baby. 🥹❤️

I'm so grateful for all the people who showed up to my events, bought a copy of this book, spread the word about it, and/or supported my writing journey in any way. ❤️

If you would like to celebrate with me, now is the perfect time to purchase a copy, leave a review or just spend some time with its poems. 🥳😁

I had to take a break from the narrative poems for a while. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to meet my goal in April. I started working on a third narrative poem right after I finished the second one ("Orphaned Rosary"). But, I had to scrap that one and ended up with "James, John, and Davy Jones's Locker" instead. It took longer than I would have liked, but that's okay. Especially, since I was able to be productive in other ways instead. 😁

Title: "James, John, and Davy Jones's Locker"

Synopsis: James recalls his short-lived relationship with John when they were both pirates aboard "The Siren's Vengeance."

Inspiration: "Gay Pirates" by Cosmo Jarvis

If you're interested in reading it, you can follow the link in my bio to my website to read the rest of the poem.

I hope you enjoy it! Let me know what you think. ☺️

I don't know if any of you can tell, but Dorianne Laux has quickly become one of my favorite poets. I still don't know how to pronounce her name though. 😅 This poem was written by her and it's titled "The Student." 📓✏️ If you stay until the end, you can see me accidentally drop the camera. 😂

I can't get over how beautiful this cover is. 😍 This poem is called "Still" 🦄 and it's written by Catherine Poarch.

I think this one is cute. ☺️ It's called "The Bat" 🦇 by Theodore Roethke.

I finally finished him! His arms are a bit small and his nose got a bit messed up. 😆 But, I think it looks pretty decent, especially with the red covering some of the smudges. It was a pretty cool experience. 😁

Here's my weekly update on Johnny Bravo! I swear the sunglasses looked better until I started doing his nose. Also, poor Johnny lost some muscle mass. 😂 I think he's looking fairly good overall though.

I love this poem. 😍 It stuck with me the first time I read it. It's called "The Face" 🔪 and it's written by Frieda Hughes.

I think it's coming out pretty decently! I still have to fix those smudges though. 😂 In case you missed it, I've decided to craft something that corresponds with each letter of my book title "Juniper." This first one is an embroidered image of Johnny Bravo.

The cover is at a weird angle because of the lack of clothing. 😅😂 This poem is called "Stripping and Putting On" 🪽by May Swenson.

I didn't work on it as much as I would have liked to this past week. But, I'm feeling good about how it's progressing. Well, besides those crazy smudges. 😂
