REVIEW: Tower.exe by @beaverlicious_games Tower.exe is a printplay roll and write that uses poker/yahtzee like dice assignments to try to climb ten floors of a tower. Each tower has an enemy that you need to defeat and you'll do this by assigning dice in combat. Your dice are rolled in groups/slots and you will choose the order in which these dice are added as you roll. Combat value consists of your base attack, which is your highest value dice; your combo value which relates to the pocalike combinations of dice; and your bonus value , which comes from any loot or upgrades that you've won in previous combats. You total these and if it exceeds the life points of the enemy you proceed to the next floor. If you lose a combat, you get an additional chance against that enemy to try to defeat it. If you fail against an enemy twice, you lose the game. If you make it all the way to the top of the tower and defeat the final enemy, you win the game. Thoughts: ⚔️I like the general gameplay, turns are very simple and the structure doesn't change between rounds, the only differences come from the loot and upgrades that you gain when you defeat enemies. ⚔️The overall design of the player she is quite good, everything makes sense and is easy to comprehend. ⚔️Tower.exe makes use of the random generator which allows you to create unlimited new variations of the player sheets. The generator will randomise your loot, enemies, and slot configurations. ⚔️Some of the loot is very useful where it impacts almost every turn; however, some are dependent on you achieving specific goals to gain extra points. I'd like more loot to give ongoing benefits that aren't dependent on luck of the dice rolls. Additionally you could upgrade your combo scoring, however, the upgrade didn't feel valuable enough to ever really choose it. ⚔️ I very much appreciated that you get too free re rolls per combat, this helped mitigate against unfortunate dice rolls , that would otherwise mean you immediately lose. Overall I enjoyed Tower.exe, it's a super fast game and easy to play a few rounds one after another. It's really simple to learn, very replayable, and offers a genuine challenge. by @beaverlicious_games
REVIEW: Of Wheat & Wonders by @beaverlicious_games @pagepunk_io Of Wheat & Wonders is a dynamic role and right about building expanding your own kingdom over fifteen years. Each year is represented by a round, and each round you will gather resources, trade with the marketplace, move around the map and build a variety of villages, towns, and special buildings. Each game you will choose a scenario which consists of a map with variable locations and different terrain challenges as well as three objectives for that scenario. You will also receive a civilisation sheet which lists the buildings you can, market prices and is used to track your resources. Some round will trigger developments or events that give positive or negative efdects. At the end of the fifteen rounds, if you've managed to complete all three objectives, you win the game. Thoughts: 🌾 The variability through the dynamic print and play configurator is really impressive. There's been a lot of thought around the scenarios with different challenges and the achievements linked to these as well. 🌾 While playing I did wonder if the variability might mean that the gameplay suffered a little, similar roll and writes have abilities linked to the challenge so that there is a path through that difficulty to success whereas, on occasion here I felt that the random nature meant that I was either lucky or not with the random configurations and in one instance felt that the map might be nearly impossible to achieve. 🌾 I think where this game shines is that there's the ability to create your own configurations and share these with others, this will massively help with the randomness feeling too intense. 🌾 I like the overall theme. I really enjoy building up civilisations and improving your engine as you play. 🌾You need a phone for the developments and events which is a little annoying, but manageable. I mostly didnt like this because the links are QR codes on the player sheets which took me away from the game visually. Overall, I liked the general gameplay and theme here, I'd like to feel a little more cohesion between the random configurations and the goals. by @beaverlicious_games
Of wheat and wonders is a dynamic print and play from the team at @beaverlicious_games accessed via @ukbg_review_circle No AI was used in this post, that dice is just broken! To play you need to have printed one of the sheets, a pen/pencil and 8 six sided dice. You also need a phone to scan things that pop up throughout the game to either hinder you or help you on your progress. The aim of the game is to expand your kingdom across a realm. You score every round – each village you have built will score you 1 point and any town 2 points. There are also special buildings which change in each configured map to get you points and/or resources. To build you need to gather resources – you start the game with a predetermined amount and then gain more as the rounds go via villages and towns. You can also spend your victory points to buy new resources. Traveling around the map also costs resources so managing these can be really tricky! Each game comes with objectives and ends after 15 rounds - you only win if you have fulfilled all three objectives. 🌈🌈🌈 Points: -This is a dynamic pnp which means you run the configurator and get an infinite number of maps and civilisation sheets meaning the game never becomes stale. -The rules are easy to follow and the game is intuitive to play. -Some of the maps come with extra challenges such as mountains you can never enter or deserts that you can use 3 points to travel through instead of using resources 🌧️🌧️🌧️ Points: -Some of the objectives can feel really hard to meet -You manage resources using dice – each round these dice change value meaning you manually change the die face. There’s something annoying about trying to find the face you want for each dice each round. Overall this is a clever enjoyable game with lots of variety and a great pnp. It can feel a bit too difficult at times but overall is enjoyable The game is available for late pledges – please look at the @beaverlicious_games profile for more details 🌈🌈🌈.5 rainbows by @beaverlicious_games
