Thank you to my Third Space / Building Bridges Family for hosting their Sukkot Celebration 🎉

There’s something so sacred and tender about eating, laughing, and sitting under a roof made of branches, open enough to see the stars through. Harvest magic, shelter made by hand, Jewish joy, the veil feeling thin, and I am here for all of it. ✨

What touched me most was the welcome. Being invited in, fed well, and held inside a tradition built on gratitude, impermanence, and making room for everyone at the table. I carry a deep reverence for the ancestors and the wisdom that got us all here and under the sukkah. I feel them close.

Grateful for my friends and community who opened their doors and their hearts. May we always build spaces where people can gather, exhale, and belong. 🤎

I miss my friend and collaborator Sister Yeshiyah Israel @ybi5115 so much. We celebrating her life and legacy today at @tasteofnorthwest, one of the many projects she poured her heart and soul into (many clips here are from past years at the festival) I made this video to send her some love before her passing and now I’m sharing it so people can see a glimpse of her many merits and talents, to see her warm smile again. Give everyone their flowers while they are here, and bring blessings to their memory by doing acts of kindness in their name.

We are going to be celebrating Park Heights, NW Baltimore, and all of the people that make our community the treasure that it is. Please stop by today and check it out, I’ll be tabling for @baltimoremoca and the One Park Heights project! #parkheights #sisterisreal #tasteofnorthwest by @beccabmore

Some of Northwest Baltimore’s history has never been written down—it’s been shared around kitchen tables.

One of the greatest joys of my work has been getting to know the incredible people, cultures, and traditions that make Northwest Baltimore such a special place. That’s why helping create the first Taste of Northwest Community Cookbook means so much to me.

Food has always been one of the ways our stories are passed from one generation to the next. This cookbook is an opportunity to preserve those recipes, traditions, and memories while celebrating the rich cultural mosaic of our community.

Whether it’s a family recipe that’s been passed down for generations, a cultural favorite, a holiday tradition, a recipe you learned from a friend or neighbor, or simply the dish everyone knows you for, I’d love for you to share it. If there’s a story behind your recipe, we’d love to preserve that too.

Recipes submitted by Tuesday, August 4 will be considered for the first edition of the cookbook, which will debut at the Taste of Northwest Festival on August 9.

This first edition is dedicated to the blessed memories of Sister Yeshiyah Israel and Ms. Margaret A. Smith, two beloved Park Heights matriarchs whose love, generosity, and legacy continue to inspire our community.

If a recipe came to mind while you were reading this, I hope you’ll share it. Every submission helps tell the story of Northwest Baltimore and preserve it for future generations.

🔗 The recipe submission form is linked in my bio. I’d be honored to include your recipe.

If you have any questions or need help submitting, send me a message—I’m always happy to help! p.s. DM me any photos of your dish! by @beccabmore

Happy Passover! A Zissen Pesach! Chag Kasher V’Sameach!
Passover is an 8 day spring festival of liberation, and the Passover Seder is the most observed Jewish ritual worldwide. To celebrate, I’m sharing some great resources from @jewishlanguageproject - visit their site to download a “Passover around the World” Haggadah supplement.
I’m also sharing some images from the
Third Annual Jews of Color Passover Seder, held a week ago by @jewishbaltimore @jocmishpacha @thejewishnetwork

To quote from this beautiful pre-Seder:

“We declare joy and hope for dancing and singing as one. We declare that we will not desist from the work of ensuring every Jew feels that they matter. We look forward to the day when we will all celebrate that all peoples are free and united in peace”
