When life throws “impossible” challenges at you, how you respond to them can change the course of your life. At one point it seemed impossible for me to run 13 minutes, let alone 13 miles. When @cvp1030 asked me to sign up for a half marathon I could have chosen to continue to say, “I’m not a runner”. Instead I chose to face the challenge, to change my habits and mindset. Last week I proved to myself that I/we CAN do hard things! (@glennondoyle 😉) And confirmed that I am a God damn cheetah! 🐆 (Maybe a slow one, but still)

Life is like a marathon. We spend so much time preparing physically and mentally for a race that seems both insufferably long and fleeting. There are exciting times with lots of people around you and times when you are alone and get bored and frustrated and wonder how much longer until the next water station, damn it! 🥵

During training you learn to face challenges, and they continue to get bigger and harder. But it’s meant to help you see your potential. Huge shout out to @coachbennett of NRC who reminded me of that during hard and easy runs. He was there cheering me on, but also being honest about how much it can suck. And if Daniel the engineer is reading this, I like Coach’s rambling tangents. It fits the Dad joke bill - for this cheeseball anyway. I’m sure this is when you’d be cutting ME off too - so maybe Coach and I are related? 🤔

I have to thank those friends who answered my request for a song to add to my playlist. As I hit shuffle at the starting line, the universe gave me exactly what tracks I needed when I needed them! From show tunes to rock anthems and high energy throwbacks to, well…baby shark 🦈 😜 Each track was so special. They reminded me that I am “stronger” “invincible” and a “champion” at the start. I needed to remember to “just breathe” when it got “harder to breathe” in that crucial third quarter. Huge thanks to @carissaafaithh for hugging me at the finish line covered in sweat and tears 😭

I am so grateful to have you all by my side! Thank you for believing in me when I couldn’t. Thank you for running the race of life with me, in whichever quarter that may be. Until…that’s the end, do do do do. 😘 by @beckysolismusic
