I figured it was about time I started sharing my music on here. I’m really excited to share some of the projects I’ve been working on, with plenty more to come. 🙂‍↕️

Live music does more than accompany dance. It changes the conversation on stage.

Lucy Macourt from @australiscollective, Mimi Yoshii from @ballet_rogue and composer Belle Smibert joined The Arts Garden to talk about building one performance across music, composition and movement.

Lucy described Australis Collective as an ensemble always looking for new and different ways to present music. Belle is bringing two story-driven works to the collaboration, including When the Weather Turned Cold. Mimi and Ballet Rogue are translating that music into a bright, dreamlike world of movement.

Their conversation also exposed the financial reality behind independent art. The ideas are abundant, while venues, musicians, rehearsals and production costs make every event a risk. Buying a ticket does more than fill a seat. It helps the next project exist.

Two chances to see their work:

🎻 Monday 21 September, 7pm
COMA at The Wheatsheaf
Australis Collective performs new Australian music with two violins, viola and double bass. Doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets at the door.

🩰 Sunday 27 September, 5pm
Luminous Reverie
Ballet Rogue and Australis Collective bring original ballet and live chamber music into conversation at Blackwood Memorial Hall. Tickets via Humanitix.

Swipe for highlights from the interview. Save the final slide and send it to someone you want to take.
