In case you haven’t heard, I bribed @balaguerguitars into making my idealized version of a stripped down, no frills riff machine from a killer company at a great price. The blackmail material was excellent, because they said YES

Introducing the Balaguer Typhon - BELLIGERENT edition.

Made to my specs, with single digit IQ riff monsters in mind. Everything you need (including a fitted hard shell case) and nothing you don’t, all for $1,399

BUT WAIT - pick up your touch tone phone and dial 1-800-MYRIFFSAREWEAK from now until 11/30 to get 10% off of an already great price!

Seriously, though. This moment is totally surreal. I truly never thought something like this would happen, and I feel insanely blessed to be a part of it. I didn’t want to call it a “signature” guitar, because I haven’t done shit in the music world, so I called it a Collab.

I truly wanted more people to be able to experience what I do every time I pick up my Typhons, so I designed the guitar with price point in mind. Don’t get it twisted though, because this guitar is an absolutely riff MONSTER. Im floored by the actual model in my hands, and I mean that with my whole heart. This will be my #1 guitar moving forward, no questions asked.

You can find the full specs and order form over at the Balaguer website. Feel free to drop any questions you have for me in the comments below.

Most of all, thank YOU. Without the support of my community, this would never have happened. You guys are incredible. Thanks for continuing to change my life for the better. by @belligerentkylebull

LAKE EFFFCT IN EFFECT
Thanks to everyone who came out to Erie Friday night to celebrate Erie Hardcore with all of us.
It was a great night, all the bands killed it, and the room was filled with all generations of punk and hardcore from the surrounding regions. Couldn’t have asked for a better night with my dudes in @humananimal814 who busted their asses to book, promote and run this show. We have the best crew, hands down.

Thanks to everyone who helped with this, too many to name. Let’s keep this torch burning. More to come from the @humananimal814 crew. 8-1-4EVER

Thanks to @arrowtone_productions @twistedvisionphotography and @victoriaswartz for the flicks! 📸📸📸

Also, thanks to @balaguerguitars for letting me design my ultimate riff stick and use it for such an important moment. Life is good. by @belligerentkylebull

Unexpected NGD…….a few weeks ago 😎

I’ve really come to love @espguitars take on the Firebird style guitar. This will be my 4th one, and it’s definitely a lifetime keeper.

This one still has the stock @seymourduncanpickups Jazz/JB setup, but someone removed the tone pot which makes the Jb sound a lot more aggressive in this neck through beast, and as many guitars as I currently have a JB in, im still gonna keep this one stock. It’s that good.

The previous owner also installed a momentary kill switch, and I’ll just keep it since I have no reason to change the electronics or layout on this baby.

Anyone else a phoenix/firebird fan? by @belligerentkylebull

I kinda do too.
Unfortunately, I can’t keep them all, so these ones are for sale.

ICYMI - My rig last Friday for @tastethesteel ‘s set in Erie.

I don’t care what a piece of gear costs or what it’s worth. If I own it, I’m gonna use it. Live, touring, studio. Doesn’t matter. I don’t pay money for a collector piece to sit in my studio so I can post about it on the internet for bragging rights.

I buy it to play it, use it and abuse it. Mostly with my shitty playing.

With that said, my bands have been more active lately and will be even more so next year, so do you want to see some rig breakdown videos for @bushidocodemetal @humananimal814 @tastethesteel and @xrepresentx814 ?
Let me know in the comments. by @belligerentkylebull

The last few days will go down as one of the best weekends of my life for so many reasons.

3 days, 4 shows, many hours in the car with my favorite person, seeing so many old friends and making some new ones, celebrating our entire scene with the comeback of a legendary band as well as celebrating the lifestyle and movement that surely saved me at 16 years old- these are all the things that make being part of this subculture and lifestyle special

Whether it’s playing to 600+ people in a sold out room or 40 kids in a basement, I still look forward to every set I get to play and every opportunity I get to connect with people over punk and hardcore music. I feel fortunate to be part of a scene that anyone who has ever experienced, knows that it’s special.

Almost 40, still doing the shit I was doing at 14, and will continue to do until I’m in the ground.

LAKE EFFECT HARDCORE FOREVER. by @belligerentkylebull

Last night was incredible.
Multiple generations of the Northeast Hardcore scene packed into Centennial Hall to celebrate the return of one of Erie’s most important bands.
If it weren’t for the guys in @brotherskeeperarchive the Erie Hardcore scene may have very well not have existed, or at least not in the capacity that it did, and my life may have looked very different without it.

I have my complaints with the state of the modern hardcore scene, but its nights like last night that remind me why I’m still here almost 25 years later, and why I’ve spent the better part of my life trying to keep things alive, not only in Erie, but in myself.

Can’t thank the BK crew enough for having @tastethesteel be a part of this incredible first night of the comeback weekend. I was able to see glimpses of this from the beginning, so to see it come to fruition and have it be a massive success has my heart feeling full. Fortunate to call a couple of these guys my brothers in my own band @humananimal814 and to now be able to call the rest of them friends. Appreciate you guys letting me tag along in the early days of this coming back together.

Night 2 is here. My band @xrepresentx814 has a show in Pittsburgh for EDGE DAY but I’ll be racing back to Erie in hopes to catch the almighty @rngwrm13 and @earthcrisisofficial and catch the second set to see if these old dudes can still hang 😂

LAKE EFFECT IN EFFECT. 8-1-4EVER by @belligerentkylebull

INTERESTING

The stock setting on the new Mod 1 Rectifier has a noticeably different voicing than the 90’s rectifier. More aggressive top end, bigger bottom, slightly more gain.
The standard 90s rectifier has more mids and is slightly more tight and less aggressive overall
Didn’t expect this, and it could be something as simple as a weak preamp tube in the regular 90s rec, but still. Damn.

Full video on the Mod 1 up tomorrow. Which one do you prefer here? by @belligerentkylebull

The “Gibsoning” of Mesa continues

Today, I took delivery of a super limited “Mod 1” Dual Rectifier. This is basically a standard 2 ch 90’s Rectifier reissue with a tight switch for each channel. That’s it. Nothing else is different.

If I didn’t know people in the industry, I wouldn’t have even known this existed in time to try and purchase one. No advertising and all of them sold out pretty much immediately upon “announcement” if you want to call it that.

Luckily, a couple buyers backed out of their orders and I was able to get one through @sweetwatersound

Upon first playthrough - the tight mod is pretty underwhelming 🤷

I’ll have a video up on Thursday. by @belligerentkylebull

Been away for a while.
