HOW TO BREAK MENTAL BARRIERS ⬇️…
with X and Y variables.

How you perceive your ability to complete a task will have a lot of influence over your actual ability to complete the task.

Here’s what I mean by this…

So let’s say you want to draw Batman (Y), but you can’t because you don’t know how to draw (x).

X - you don’t know how to draw Batman
Y - you want to draw Batman

So what you believe about (X) is going to influence your ability to do (Y).

So you say to yourself,

“I can’t draw Batman (Y) because I don’t know how to draw Batman (X).”

This is the mental barrier.

To break this, we need to reframe our perception of (X).

This is what you say instead,

“Despite (X) I can accomplish (Y)”

Or…

“Despite the fact that I can’t draw Batman (X), I am going to LEARN to draw until I can draw Batman (Y).”

So, your first time trying to draw Batman you might fail, or it might not be as good as you want. But if you keep trying, and you eventually accomplish (Y), then (X) is no longer true. Because now you CAN draw Batman. You can let go of (X).

I realize that in a measure of extremes this is not always true. I’m going to be able to lift 135 lbs. on bench press no matter how I perceive my ability to do so, given that I’m not injured.

You won’t be able to walk on a broken leg no matter how you perceive it (Unless you’re Doctor Strange).

Regardless, in most cases I hope this helps you.

CLAYFACE

This honestly turned out SUPER well! I want this to be a body-horror piece that displays the transformation of Matt Hagen turning into Clayface.

I definitely want to portray a sense of realism with the piece so I’ll be using @tomrhysharries as my reference for Matt Hagen (who did a phenomenal job in the film).

Stay tuned for part two!

Now here are the new pumpkins. I gotta say they both look great! I was amazed at how well both of them look.

As I was taking pictures of my pumpkin, a car came by and that actually added some really dynamic lighting.

My girlfriend did a really cute cat and I think it looks awesome as well 😮‍💨

Pumpkins from last years’ Halloween with my girlfriend. I like the designs so I’m reposting them.

I’ll post this years’ designs tomorrow 😮‍💨

BATMAN DRIP GOES HARD 😮‍💨

I’d like to thank my wonderful girlfriend for the jacket. Painting on leather is difficult, but we got it done 😂

I AM BATMAN 😉

SUPERMAN commission

My dad started me on this journey of DC and MARVEL madness with the 1978 Christopher Reeve Superman DVD set.

And look at me now. Now I get to bring joy to other people with my art, the same way Superman 1978 brought joy to me when I was little.

And just as an aside, I rewatched the film before viewing James Gunn’s Superman and I gotta say…

It is INSANE just how well that film holds up. I had such a fun time with it.

Superman is so underrated, and if you disagree, please pick up a comic book. Because he’s actually such a chill guy.

SUPERMAN commission

This is the best Superman piece I’ve ever done. I’m SUPER happy with how this came out. I’m getting a lot better at rendering and shading for sure 😮‍💨

What do you think of the piece??

SUPERMAN commission

I’m honestly so happy with how this is turning out so far. Definitely one of my favorite penciled pieces yet!

SUPERMAN commission

I always enjoy doing commissions that are just pencils because it gives me the chance to put a lot of rendering and detail into my pieces in a way that I can’t when using color or inks (probably because I don’t know how).

This is looking mighty solid! That’s a MAN OF STEEL right there!
