After Naples and Gizzeria last July (where I finished 3rd in the Grand Masters and Masters, respectively), I was looking forward to this third Italian stop and World Cup event in Cagliari 🇮🇹.

The conditions were lined up with a fresh 15-20 knot breeze sunny skies and warm waters. It was going to be perfect.

The night before the event a fortune 🥠 cookie said « you will overcome many difficulties ». Was not the best omen as I had to deal with a faulty wing losing pressure on the next day before having to sit this one out entirely the rest of the event due to a bad back. 🫣

Probably too much time in front of the PC and not enough out on the water or just my age catching up with me. 👴🏻😅

Still enjoyed watching the show put on by the top riders. Some intense racing out there.💪💪 Tomorrow’s final is set to be epic.

First race of the season for me at the IWSA European Championship in Naples 🇮🇹 a week ago.
Light winds made for pretty challenging conditions but it was good to be back on foil after a long winter break with very little training.
Finished 3rd 🥉 of the grand masters but only 74/83 overall 😅.
Congrats to my friend @rattotti_ and @vaina_picot for their wins 🥇🇫🇷 !

Coming out of the Sardinia Open Wingfoil World Cup last month — where I had some good races but finished 57/71 — I was really looking forward to this event as a reference point in the Masters division (35+) where I would be the only one to represent France.

The first ever Masters World Championships (alongside the Youths), held on the stunning island of Terceira in the Azores. 🤩

We had a bit of everything: a couple of no-wind / light-wind days early on, followed by stormy winds and the biggest swell most of us have ever faced in racing.

I started off on a bad note, sitting out a few races when the wind was just too patchy and light for me to get going (think 4–6 knots). Some decided to pull out a big front wing — good for them, it seemed to work… but is this still racing? 🤔

When the wind finally kicked in, I put together some solid heats, finishing 5th a few times, then a 3rd and even a 2nd! That was enough to qualify for the medal series in 8th place.

However, the race committee decided to cancel most heats on the final day due to the rough conditions. A call that came too early, considering the conditions were actually pretty good for the finals heat — the only one that went ahead. That stripped some of us of the chance to fight for a few more places… but that’s how it goes.

Overall, it was an amazing experience — and so much fun to share it with fellow racers and friends & family who came along on the trip.

Huge congrats 🍾 to @chris.rashley 🇬🇧 for taking the win in the Masters and to @erny_waterman 🇮🇹 in the Youths !

Dakhla 🇲🇦 | IWSA World Cup Stop #1

Back where it all started – my first wingfoil race was here in 2021 on the GWA world cup. Four years later, the level has exploded: faster gear, tighter racing, stronger riders.

Finished 25th, just outside my top 20 goal, with some good heats, a few crashes 💥and a couple jump-the-gun starts 😅. Still happy to be holding my own with the very best. 🤙

Congrats to @mathisghio and @maddalena.spanu for another win 💪 and to the impressive newcomers on the tour @thomas______proust, @anaisdjardins and Vaina Picot 🇫🇷 !!

A world medalist’s race wing. For sale on Stokd. 🥉

Thomas Proust just took bronze at the Formula Wing World Championships in Istanbul — his first world medal, two and a half years after his first wingfoil session.

His VAYU X-Race V2 6.0 is now up on Stokd. 2026, one week of use, €2,100 — €599 under retail. Bag, handles, boom and leash included, ships across the EU.
