The more artificial the world becomes, the more valuable the real thing gets.

AI is wild. And I know we’re probably all getting a little tired of hearing about it. Everywhere you look, people are creating incredible content with it. Some of it is fascinating. Some of it is almost impossible to distinguish from reality.

But here’s what I keep coming back to…

There’s still nothing like the real thing.

I feel fortunate to work in a niche where authenticity matters. The golf courses and resorts I photograph are real places, captured in real light, at moments that can’t always be predicted or recreated.

Do I use technology in post-production? Absolutely. Lightroom and Photoshop are part of my workflow. I adjust RAW files, refine colors, and occasionally clean up distractions like cart tracks. But I’m not generating landscapes or inventing scenes that never existed.

There’s a big difference between refining reality and manufacturing it.

For the marketing directors, general managers, and those responsible for telling the story of a golf club or resort, I think that distinction matters more than ever.

And here’s another thought. Maybe we should be putting more people in our golf course photography.

For years, 99% of what I’ve captured has been empty fairways, pristine greens, and beautiful landscapes. I love those images, and I always will. But there’s something equally powerful about showing real golfers experiencing these incredible places. After all, that’s what these properties are built for.

AI isn’t going anywhere, and I’m all for embracing technology. But I believe people will increasingly appreciate knowing that what they’re looking at is actually real.

Real places. Real light. Real experiences.

That’s what I capture. And that’s something worth preserving.

Good vibes, good people, great fits, mediocre golf ⛳️🔥

Massive thanks to @travismathew / @travismathewwomens for having us out at @thecrosbyclubofficial - unreal day. Shoutout @magzyang @maiyagolf @loganlisle

Their new fall stuff is breathable, comfortable, and looks the part. The Modern Tour shoe is my favorite. Comfortable with a classic look.

They’ve got some cool stuff lined up here soon for both product and activations so keep an eye out l. Appreciate you guys having me out and working with me on this one.
