I’m back, bigger and better and this time, I’m here to change the narrative. As a filmmaker with a deep eye for cinema and a passion for raw, authentic African stories, I’ve spent years writing across multiple platforms from blogs and radio to the screen. Now, I am officially opening my latest slate of ready-to-pitch concepts for producers scouting for their next project. I don't just write to fill a page; I write to create a shift in the creative space. If you are looking for high-stakes drama, tight structures, and stories that will hold your audience hostage, my desk is ready. Let’s collaborate, build trust, and bring these visions to life. Swipe through to read the project loglines. The complete pitch decks, treatments, and working drafts are just a DM away—or you can reach me directly at benthompsontalks@gmail.com. Thank you for trusting the craft. While participating in a writers’ residency in Iseyin, Oyo State, I found a story I want to bring to the screen. A story about the traditional weavers of Iseyin: their craft, their lives, and the heritage carried through every thread. We have a director on board, and we are building a small team to make this documentary happen. We are looking to connect with: 🎥 Cinematographers and camera operators 🎙️ Sound recordists ✂️ Editors 📸 Still photographers 📋 Production assistants 🎬 Camera and sound equipment owners 🤝 Potential production supporters and partners We are also open to conversations with documentary distributors, broadcasters, streaming platforms and content acquisition professionals interested in original African stories. Whether you can contribute your skills, provide access to equipment, support the production or connect us with the right people, I would love to hear from you. Let's document the people and traditions that deserve to be remembered. THE LAST THREAD Every thread carries a story. Who will carry it forward? DM to connect or collaborate. #TheLastThread #Iseyin #DocumentaryFilm #AfricanStories #nigerianfilmmakers by @benthompson_art
Yesterday in Iseyin, I had the opportunity to mentor secondary school students as part of our Writers-in-Residence programme. ✍🏾🎬 While the conversations focused on becoming better writers, I took a broader approach by introducing them to something I deeply care about: the creative economy. We explored the possibilities across film, music, fashion, and other creative industries, and how young people can turn their interests and talents into careers, businesses, and sustainable livelihoods. You don't have to be a singer to work in music. You don't have to be in front of the camera to work in film. And loving fashion goes beyond becoming a designer. There are opportunities in production, marketing, public relations, talent management, distribution, publishing, and so much more. My message to these young minds was simple: your creativity can be more than a passion. It can be your profession. I believe mentorship should open minds, introduce possibilities, and help young people see futures they may never have imagined. This is one of the reasons I remain passionate about building a stronger African creative economy. 🌍 #CreativeEconomy #YouthMentorship #CreativeIndustries #Film #Music by @benthompson_art

🎬 AFRICA’S STORIES DESERVE A STAGE BUILT FOR THEM. Introducing BingeArt Film Festival (BAFF) — a new pan-African film festival coming to Lagos, Nigeria, in November 2027. We’re bringing African filmmakers, audiences, and industry professionals together to celebrate our stories, discover exceptional talent, and create new opportunities for African cinema to reach the world. Celebrating our legacy. Building our future. African cinema stands on the shoulders of pioneers like Amaka Igwe, whose work helped shape the industry we know today. At BAFF, we believe the future of African film must honour the visionaries who paved the way. Our ambition goes beyond the screen. We’re building a platform for film exhibition, industry connections, talent development, and opportunities that move African stories further. Are you a filmmaker? A brand or potential partner? 🎓 A film school or creative institution? Or simply passionate about African cinema? There’s a place for you in this journey. Follow @BingeArtFilmFestival for updates, announcements, and opportunities as we build towards our first edition. 👇🏾 Tag a filmmaker whose story deserves to be seen by the world! There are seasons when life forces you to slow down. Seasons when circumstances make you question your timing, your progress, and sometimes, even the dreams you have carried for years. I have had moments like that. But somewhere beneath the uncertainty, one truth remained: I am made for more, and my journey is not over. That is why receiving my acceptance email for the 2026 edition of the @cbaforafrica (CBA) meant so much to me. It was more than an email. It was a reminder that even when life slows you down, your vision can remain alive. That a difficult season does not have to be the end of your story. And that sometimes, the next chapter begins with a door opening when you need the reminder most. As someone building a career across film, music business, marketing, communications and talent development, I believe Africa's creative future depends on more than the talent we produce. It also depends on the people who understand how to develop that talent, build sustainable businesses around it, and create systems that allow our creativity to thrive. This is why the work of Godwin Tom and the entire CBA team matters to me. Their commitment to developing a more informed and empowered workforce for Africa's creative industries speaks to the kind of ecosystem I want to contribute to. I am grateful for this opportunity to learn, challenge myself, build meaningful relationships and become better equipped to contribute to the African creative economy. And perhaps the most important lesson I am taking into this next chapter is this: Your circumstances may change your pace, but they do not have to cancel your purpose. If you are in a season of uncertainty, rebuilding, or finding your feet again, give yourself permission to keep believing. Your journey does not have to look perfect for it to still hold promise. Thank you, @godwintom and the CBA team, for creating a platform that continues to invest in the people behind Africa's creative industries. I am ready for the work, the learning, the connections and the impact ahead. 🚀🌍 The journey continues. #CBAForAfrica #AfricanCreativeEconomy #mycbastory #thecbaimpact by @benthompson_art
