Pinned because a few people said they found it useful/interesting to talk about and because I chatting/jamming about 'groove'

P.s If everything's behind the beat, then nothing is.. sometimes the way to get the 'behind' vibe is actually for something/someone to push ahead.

P.p.s Often the drummer just being solid and letting the other instruments bounce around/ahead/behind works better. 'Pocket' is a team game.

MicrKorg as a delay 'pedal'

The interface in my teaching room was doing weird distortion so I leant in and ran my drums through my MicroKorg

Been enjoying playing a lot of "Songbook 1" songs this week in lessons. Nothing beats playing music. by @benwhite.insta

Practice approach: Listen to something on repeat and play a different musicians role each time

I often learn more about drumming by playing a set on guitar than I would’ve by practicing drums directly

Often I’ve learnt more about being a bassist by playing drums with different bassists, etc

P.s shout-out Chris Dave and the band by @benwhite.insta

There's been more Afrobeat-y stuff in my house than normal this week and I've been enjoying that... Perhaps it's spring now? by @benwhite.insta
