HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY RICK!
•
I know I talk about how awesome this guy is on every post I do about him, but it’s all true. ESPECIALLY how great he is at being a dad to our girls. We are all so beyond lucky to have him, he really is the rock of the family, keeping us all grounded!
•
Rick is one of the most selfless people I know, he really cares about everyone around him and he will sacrifice so much to help anyone if he sees a way he can. Life has been crazy lately, and I don’t remember the last time he did anything for himself bigger than a one hour nap… so I sent him away to Vegas for his birthday to have some fun with his BFF! He deserves some uninterrupted fun and rest more than anyone I know. We are missing him today, but we know he’s having a great 40th and that’s what matters! We love you!! Your girls (myself included) can’t wait to see you tomorrow when you get home 🖤 by @bethduin

9/9/26 Blake turned one month old and Sadie turned 2 1/2! Blake is growing so fast. She’s already 7 1/2 lbs and outgrew her newborn diapers! She’s up from the 2nd percentile in weight to the 5th and height shot up by almost 4 inches since birth putting her in the 55th! Sadie was such a tiny thing staying in the 1st percentile until 18 months, I haven’t been prepared for this growth spurt 😂. Sadie is still obsessed with her sister. Blake is still obsessed with being held 24/7. I just want to freeze time constantly with both of these beautiful girls to enjoy every moment, but I also can’t wait for all the milestones to come! by @bethduin

Welcome Blake Avery Duin 🖤
Born 8/9/26 at 3:47pm, 6lb 2oz, 18.5”

We couldn’t be more in love with this little angel and Sadie is thrilled to have a baby sister! by @bethduin

Happy Father’s Day to the best dad around! Sadie absolutely adores you and wants to share every moment with her daddy. We are beyond lucky to have you, and we are so SO grateful every single day for your never ending hard work and dedication to our family and giving us the best life possible. I can’t wait for our little family to grow soon, and to see you become a father to TWO little girls who will look up to you in every way. Hildi was so lucky to have you as her dog dad and her favorite person and I know she lived a good and happy life having you to love. Thank you for being the best husband and dad I could have ever imagined, I love you more than words can say. 🖤 by @bethduin

I wish there was something I could say that would begin to fill the void I feel without you Hildi girl. My Wigglebutt. Nothing feels right. Like you were the glue that was holding me all together and I’m in pieces.

On Wednesday May 20th I took Hildi to the vet. Our third visit in as many months. She’s always been strong and active, and I know she was getting older but recently there were some concerning changes and I was trying to get to the bottom of them. We thought arthritis, or maybe a broken tooth. She was a healthy, happy, playful dog not even three months ago, so I was thoroughly unprepared for what came next.
•
Hildi had a tumor on her spleen that had gone undetected for who knows how long. At some point, it ruptured and she had been bleeding internally. We don’t know when it started or how long it went, we don’t know much at all. The numbers were so bad we knew that there was no coming back from it. We knew at worst we had hours and at best we had days, MAYBE weeks if it had clotted but we didn’t want her to suffer through an agonizing end. We gambled and took her home so that her last moments weren’t at the vet (she literally shook like a leaf every time we were there). We spoiled her rotten. We cried. A lot. And then we had a vet come to our home so we could let her enjoy a few pain free moments before we sent her over the rainbow bridge on May 21st. She would have turned 12 on June 20th.

We are truly devastated. The house is too quiet. There’s no excited face, loud barks and swarm of kisses every time we walk in the door. What I would give to have even one more of every single trait I sometimes found annoying or overwhelming. How many more walks and hikes I would have taken you on if I knew we wouldn’t have more. Our house feels haunted without you. I have a 2 year old girl who asks “mommy, where’s Hildi?” When we walk in the front door. You won’t get to greet your new sister in August. We are remembering the good moments with fondness and love, but we are also drowning in grief. We love and miss you more than you’ll ever know. by @bethduin

We are adding another GIRL to our little family! Sadie is going to be the best big sister, and we can’t wait! 🖤 by @bethduin

3/9/26 • Happy 2nd birthday Sadie! We had so much fun celebrating you this past week. You are such a light to everyone around you. You are so smart, caring, silly, beautiful and you make every moment brighter. We absolutely adore you! It is amazing watching you learn and grow and I’m constantly amazed by all the things you know and do. We are so lucky we have you for our daughter, and we love watching the little person you are becoming. I love you Sadie girl! 🖤 by @bethduin

I’m always trying to feed a squirmy feral raccoon while also feeding myself.. thanks @rick_duin for coming up with this little miracle on our last Costco run!

Happy Birthday Hildi! 11 years old today. Life has looked a little different this past year but she’s taking it like a champ 😆. Sadie couldn’t love her more… and Hildi tolerates it but wishes she was still an only child. I can’t believe how quickly the years have flown! We love you wigglebutt. by @bethduin

I’m a day late but that’s nothing new…
This guy is Sadie’s world! She LOVES her daddy and is definitely a daddy’s girl. Every time she sees my phone, she says “DADA!” Because she wants to look at my background picture, or she wants to FaceTime dad. Dada was her first word, not just the sound but knowing what it meant. Rick teaches her all the important things, like how to properly get down from things. That jumping and swinging can be fun and not scary. How to laugh and play and have fun. To try new things and be brave.
We are both so lucky to have you @rick_duin, happy Father’s Day! We love you more than you’ll ever know. by @bethduin

Yesterday 3/9/2025 was Sadie’s 1st Birthday!
I can’t believe I’ve been this little love’s mom for a whole year.
More photos to come, but we just wanted to say thank you to everyone who made her birthday special!
Happy birthday beautiful, we love you so much. by @bethduin

2/9/25 Sadie is ELEVEN MONTHS OLD.

Time is FLYING by, I can’t believe we are already planning a first birthday party for this little girl! She really does light up our lives. She is such a happy baby!
•
Sadie is cruising along furniture, taking steps if you hold her hands and this week she learned to point at things and she’s starting to wave. She is still doing a lot if her long time favorites too.. still claps at everything, loves to growl playfully and tries to climb everything. Headstands have been a favorite activity since around 6 months and they’re still a frequent occurrence. She has FINALLY decided she likes food.. sort of. Not enough to count as a meal, but she will actually take bites now and gets very upset if you don’t share. Food is something we’ve been actively working on since 6 months and she is just a bottle girl. But we are finally starting to see the shift. She does love to drink water from a straw and makes little “ahh” noises after she sips 😂
•
Still zero teeth, still wearing 3-6 month clothes and still hovering right around 15lbs! She loves to look at pictures or FaceTime family members and gets really excited when she recognizes someone. That’s been going on for a while now too. She loves the dog more than anything, and the dog still mostly ignores her. 😂 poor Hildi may never get over not being the only baby anymore.
•
It seems like she learns something new every day! The sound of her fake laughing and fake coughing are my favorite noises (the only sound I love more is her real laugh) and I might never get all these baby songs out of my head. We are loving these days more than we ever knew we could. by @bethduin
