For the first time in the competition's history, two winners were announced for Leicester Square Theatre's annual competition for sketch, character and alternative acts. The judges named Betty Thompson and Jenny & Reese as the joint winners of the 2026 Sketch Off! contest. Thompson, appearing in a vivid pink outfit, played a woman preparing for a night out, chatting to the audience as if they were her friends. Meanwhile Jenny & Reese - Jenny Jones and Reese Patel - performed a series of dead-pan interactions between two initial strangers meeting on the street. With the Leicester Square Theatre generously finding extra money when the judges couldn't pick between them, both acts took home £500 on top of certificates. Walking to the microphone together to utter "thank you" in unison, they jointly picked up the competition's trophy. With the tradition being to choose a random theme for the trophy, this year it was a dancing-themed glitterball presented to the winners. Lady Bolognese - Tanika Lay-Meachen & Matt Straker - were named as the runners-up, which comes with a £250 prize. The duo, who will be performing a full show at this year's Edinburgh Festival, played unhinged school dinner supervisors. Meanwhile Andy Field & Kieran Murphy - who performed under the name SÜPERHAUS_COLLECTIVE/3/DISTURB.zip - won the £150 third place prize. #SketchOff #BettyThompson #JennyAndReece #LadyBolognese #superhaus Images by Steve Ullathorne by @bettina.la.tomtom
