Meet Catherine Cruz, one of our collage instructors here at SebArts. She wants to help people connect with their creativity, and her workshops are fun and welcoming, even if you've never made art before.

Her next class is “Collage on Panel from Start to Finish”. It's a new comprehensive collage workshop designed to guide you through the complete process of creating a finished collage on wood panel.

In class you'll:

“Mur Bleu No.1” is reminiscent of a beautiful patina you’d see on an old painted wall in France where I grew up. This technique is achieved by layering paper and paint and I will demonstrate it this weekend during Art Trails Open Studios. Visit my home studio between 10 and 5, studio 73 in Sebastopol, demo at 11:30.

“Into the Blue” is a 24”x24” painting you can see in my home studio, actually it’s in my living room which I use as gallery space during Art Trails Open Studios. Most people know me for my collage art but I’m also an abstract painter and I have several large paintings available, by large I mean 36x36, 36x48 and 48x48.

I love it when participants get excited about this medium!
David had not made any collage art since college, Jody said “learning a new art form awakened my creativity and desire to pursue collage further. I left the class feeling excited and ready to dive into another project.” Sorrel was happy to finally be able to take this workshop she had been eyeing for some time. Mary is a returning participant who loves collage and has been to my creative retreat in France.
