If something is right for you, you’ll live in heaven on earth, if it’s not - you’ll be bitter, jealous, hateful.
It’s always your choice ❤️

Tenshaen Park in Uwajima was the only place that gave me a sense of peace. Having worked nonstop without much free time to catch my breath for more than 8 years was absolutely exhausting and by the end I had the same apathy as most Japanese people despite my bright and curious personality. And boy did my employers love my popularity with students. And boy did they hate giving me any credit or time to rest.

I miss it but it broke me like no other country, even my own 🤔

May 3, 2025, my student invited me to a koto concert. The Koto is a traditional Japanese musical instrument that is somewhat struggling to survive because many young people opt for piano or guitar. The design is absolutely beautiful and the sound of Koto is absolutely divine ❤️

HS students in Uwajima were responsible for organising a public event at a local Shotengai and my students who were a part of that student organisation asked me to come and support them 🫡🫶🏻
I’m still learning to separate the good and and the bad I experienced in the 8 years of my life in Japan. This is one of the good memories 🥰

The Chrysanthemum Festival in Kagoshima 🫶🏻
I grew up with flowers around me and the seasonal chrysanthemum festival held in November in most cities in Japan gave me an extra reason to be happy 🥰

‘Art installation’ at Kagoshima Station back in 2018 😁
It’s hard not to understand the language 🤔 obviously 😂

The Uwajima scenery that absolutely got me hooked! I might have burned that bridge because the curiosity and ‘attention’ of some local Japanese men gave me paranoia to the point that I stopped sleeping, eventually completely.
Sad, for I really loved that place 😅
Oh well, the scenery was breathtaking, and I was lucky to have lived there in relative peace in the beginning.

I have always felt uncomfortable in Tokyo but occasionally I had to go there. I chose this hotel because it was not too far from the Ukrainian embassy where I had to pick up my passport and boy was I wrong. Some younger staff at the hotel were rude (and it wasn’t a cheap hotel!) and walking to the embassy was a nightmare! It was a really hot day, I got sick midway, there were some unpleasant encounters on the way and by the time I made it to the embassy I was crying because of exhaustion. The Ukrainian lady working at the embassy was really caring and helpful.
This trip showed me again how inconvenient and unforgiving Tokyo is for anybody with any health problems. Oh well, I forgive and forget - will probably never go back anyway! But I can’t recommend this hotel if you are travelling solo. That said there is that old samurai graveyard and the view was beautiful!

Mishima, Shizuoka❤️
The part of Japan I absolutely adored - cute family traditions of the local communities ❤️
My landlady ran a little bakery with my absolutely favourite gobou pan right next to my apartment and it was such a blessing to wake up to the aroma of the freshly baked bread 🤩❤️🤩
She graciously invited me to participate in her family mochi making in the honour of the New Year celebration 🥳
Absolutely loved every second of it 😁 and living next to this jolly family was an absolute blast 😁

The somewhat apocalyptic experience of sand onsen in Ibusuki, Kagoshima. The sea is almost boiling in some parts and the little town itself looked like a haunted village from a horror movie. That said it was sort of fun to get buried up to my neck for 15 minutes, especially the part where I got to watch people ‘buried’ nearby ‘rise from the dead’ 🤔 I was humming MJ’s thriller for the rest of the week 😂

This is how Japanese festival floats commute to and from the festival. Extremely picturesque just like almost every aspect of the Japanese festival culture 🤩
