ONE WEEK 🎉 Who's coming?! 👀 by @bigbobinthesky

Hey, I'm Sean! I play drums in Big Bob in the Sky.

How long have you been playing music?
I come from a very musical family, so I’ve been playing music for as long as I can remember. I started playing shows when I was 11, so I guess that means I’ve been playing out for about 28 years.

What was the first album that made you want to make music?
It’s hard to pinpoint an exact record since I had so much early exposure, but some of my earliest memories of playing air guitar and being fascinated by a band came from Led Zeppelin’s The Song Remains the Same.

Are you in any other bands?
I play bass with Garrett LeBeau and the Soul Providers, and I lead Pigasus on guitar and vocals. I also play in a number of community ensembles around Wyoming and am essentially a musician for hire.

What’s one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
I have a lot of self-consciousness about dancing and have never gotten very good at it. People often assume that because I’m so musical I must also be a good dancer, and this is not the case. 😂

What do you do when you’re not making music?
I’m usually repairing instruments at Fremont Music.

What’s a completely useless skill you have?
Finding a use for every useless skill that I have.

Were there specific musical influences that shaped this record for you?
As a drummer I was thinking a lot about Charlie Watts, Glenn Kotche, Steve Shelley, and Paul English. The common thread is that they all have this ability to play for the songs in a way that is understated and supportive of the music.

Is there a song that feels like the emotional center of the record?
For me, it’s “Fountain.” Rob has so much gratitude for the people in his orbit, and that song is where his respect and love for the people who have shaped him really shines.

What are you most excited about with this release?
I’m most excited for Rob’s longtime fan base to hear his music performed at its best by Big Bob in the Sky. I can very confidently say that this record will have been well worth the wait.

Hey y'all, I'm Bill Hastings. I play electric guitar in Big Bob in the Sky. Here's a little about me and what brought me along for the ride:

How did you end up in this band?
Saw the group (Rob, Joe, Sean) as a trio and immediately heard ideas for electric guitar parts on the songs.

How long have you been playing music?
Music in general since I was about 6 and started playing guitars at 16.

What was the first album that made you want to make music?
The Cure - Seventeen Seconds

Are you in other bands?
Playing bass in Sterile Crow which is more sludgy metal.

What do you do when you're not making music?
I am the Chief Information Security Officer for Language IO and also run my own website hosting businesses and help keep Fremont Music alive.

What role did experimentation play in the record for you?
Loads of time trying different guitar pedals to come up with a sound that reflects the vibe of the song. Re-arranging parts that helped boost the song with the whole group.

Were there any sounds or textures that became central to the record?
Reverb and delay, lots of it.

What was the recording process like?
Absolutely amazing, it was my first proper studio experience.

Favorite songs on the record?
Dreamin', Greatest One, and Hourglass.

What are you most excited about with this release?
To get Robbie’s songs into the ears/heads of people who have never heard them like this before.

Greatest One is one of my favorite songs on the record. I love the honesty, as bitter as it may be. It could be about losing a one-of-a-kind fish or the woman of your dreams, or both. Some creatures are too wild to be held by mortal men, I guess. - Rob
