After hunting hard for 4 days pursuing kudu for Ané it all came together on the final morning… an exceptional bull.

Kudu at Buffalo Kloof don’t come easy. The terrain is thick, visibility is limited, and these bulls know exactly how to use it.

We set out in hopes of finding the dream buffalo bull for Anè, looking for a very specific type of buffalo for her. After a few approaches and turning down some great bulls we bumped into this dugga boy late afternoon and we knew it was a bull we were looking for.
He was alone with another old bull, having been pushed out of the herds and passed his prime we took the shot, great shot made by Anè on her first ever buffalo.

A lone dagga boy, gnarly, old, and cantankerous… moving through the thickets of the Eastern Cape. Torn ears, a scarred Roman nose, worn bosses chipped by years of battle. A wise, weathered veteran choosing solitude in his final years.

His awareness makes him exceptionally difficult to hunt, every sound is read, every movement questioned. Taken miles from the nearest road, field dressed where he fell and packed out on foot, the essence of fair-chase hunting.

Five faces marked by jubilation and respect. Not celebration for its own sake, but recognition of a system working as intended…legal, regulated hunting that supports people on the ground, professional teams, and the long-term management of wildlife. An epic few days spent at the FTW SAAM SCHOOL out here in the Texas Hill Country. A top operation with great people and a strong focus on ethical shooting and real world hunting fundamentals. Such a great learning experience thank you @ftwsaam - so worth checking out and doing a course with these guys!
