Kob on Cracker Shrimp!

A beautiful kob successfully landed on a BKK 3/0 Offset Circle Hook using a fresh cracker shrimp bait.

Cracker shrimp remains one of the most versatile and productive baits available to rock, shore and estuary anglers, accounting for a wide variety of species along our coastline. From bronze bream to stumpnose, grunter to kob and other prized edibles, it's a bait that consistently produces results.

The BKK Offset Circle Hook once again proved its worth, delivering a solid corner-of-the-mouth hookup exactly as intended. Strong, sharp and dependable when it matters most.

Kob have always been one of my favourite species to target, and I have the utmost respect for these magnificent fish. Anyone who knows me well will know exactly what happened after these photos were taken...

This beautiful fish was safely released and is swimming strong in the ocean once again.

Catch the moment. Respect the species. Release the future.

Straight Point Vs Curved Point
BKK Range of 4X Treble hooks for live/dead baits and lures.
4X Viper-41-Straight Point -Suited for Live/Dead baits
The Viper-41 is a strong and shiny 4x treble hook designed with long and straight needle points and a very aggressive bend, developed eyeing at topwater techniques. To reduce the overall weight of the hook and to make it stay closer to the lure we shortened the welded section of the treble, thereby also providing more flexibility to the structure. The point is designed to maximize the hook-up rate when fishing topwater or when targeting fish that suck in the lure, while the aggressive shape of the bend ensures that the hook does not come off when the fish thrashes and jumps out of the water. The Viper-41 is coated in Bright Tin to resist even harsh saltwater environments.

4X Raptor Z- Curved Point -Suited for Lures

Thanks to BKK’s Hand ground technology and Ultra-Antirust coating, it is equipped with ultimate impaling power, being able to penetrate even the hardest bony jaws and superior corrosion resistance. BKK’s Slim Ring Technology further allows for an easier attachment of split rings. It is one of the most used and popular treble hooks for a wide range of applications.

WHY THE BKK UA CIRCLE HOOK WORKS BEST FOR CRACKER

When targeting Cracker (Brusher), hook choice can be the difference between landing the fish or losing the fight in the rocks.

One hook that continues to prove itself time and time again is the BKK UA Circle Hook — and for good reason.

Why it works so well for Cracker:

1. Perfect Corner-of-the-Mouth Hookups
Cracker are powerful fish with crushing teeth and incredibly strong mouths. The UA Circle Hook is designed to rotate and set neatly into the corner of the jaw, reducing pulled hooks and increasing solid hook-up rates.

2. Less Chance of Gut Hooking
Unlike traditional J-hooks, the circle design allows the fish to properly take the bait before the hook sets naturally. This means better, cleaner hookups and healthier releases when needed.

3. Built for Brutal Conditions
Fishing for cracker often means heavy structure, rocks, and serious pulling power. The BKK UA Circle Hook offers the strength and durability needed when you’re applying pressure to stop fish from reefing you.

4. Strong Wire, Sharp Point, Serious Holding Power
Cracker fight dirty. They dive straight for structure and use every bit of leverage they can. A hook needs to stay pinned under pressure — and that’s exactly where the UA Circle Hook shines.

5. Bait Presentation
Whether fishing redbait, crab, prawn, mussel, or chokka combinations, the UA Circle allows for a natural bait presentation while still giving confidence when the bite comes.

The Key to Fishing Circle Hooks for Cracker

One of the biggest mistakes anglers make is striking too early.

With a circle hook:
Don’t strike — just tighten up and let the hook do the work.

Once that rod loads up, apply steady pressure and hold on.

These fish are powerful, stubborn, and absolutely addictive to target — but with the right hook in place, your chances improve dramatically.

When chasing cracker in rough terrain, confidence in your terminal tackle matters — and the BKK UA Circle Hook has earned its place in the tackle box.
