This past Friday, I host an appreciation event dedicated to my advocates and all the incredible work they continue to do throughout the community and the city. The evening featured a fun and engaging game show experience in collaboration with a nationally Black-owned business, creating an atmosphere filled with connection, laughter, and celebration. This event was my way of showing gratitude for the dedication, passion, and impact our advocates make every day. In addition to celebrating their hard work, we also took time to educate attendees on AHF’s new 340B initiative, providing important information on how this program will continue supporting and strengthening our community efforts. Overall, the event was a meaningful opportunity to connect, appreciate, and empower those who continue to make a difference. What a day at the 2026 Columbia Black Expo! On Saturday, May 16, the SC AHF Team — Advocacy and HCC staff — joined Imara Canady, our BLACC Affinity group sponsoring partner, for an unforgettable celebration of Black excellence, culture, and community in the Expo Health Pavilion at the SC State Fair Grounds.
From our energetic indoor BLACC/AHF vendor exhibit to the Mobile Unit offering testing right at the main entrance, the energy was nonstop. The music, the movement, the conversations, the pride — everything was electric. And the star power was real. We were thrilled to see incredible celebrity guests like Meagan Good, Jonathan Majors, Coach Dawn Staley, and so many others lighting up the Expo floor.
A day dedicated to uplifting the community, fostering connection, Health Awareness, economic growth, and celebrating Black
culture in Columbia, SC!

Did you know Black people in the U.S. are disproportionately affected by HIV, accounting for 38% of new HIV diagnoses? In honor of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, we’re celebrating artists who’ve used their platforms to raise awareness, encourage testing, and create real change.

@AliciaKeys co-founded Keep a Child Alive, supporting children and families affected by HIV/AIDS, and helped turn the annual Black Ball into a major HIV/AIDS fundraiser.

@Common has spoken publicly about losing an uncle to HIV/AIDS and has worked closely with AHF to push for HIV awareness & prevention.

Rihanna’s (@badgalriri) Clara Lionel Foundation supports global health and humanitarian initiatives, alongside her public anti-stigma messaging around HIV testing.

Are you looking to get involved this National HIV/AIDS Awareness Day? Check out BLACC (@blacc_ahf), an AHF division addressing social and health disparities in Black communities across the country. by @blacc_ahf

What an absolutely unforgettable experience at Lionel Hampton! The Rhythm of Success Pop-Up Studio was more than just an event it was a living, breathing example of what happens when information, exposure, and opportunity meet our youth.

🎙 Mic Drop Podcast — where student voices were heard and stories were shared.
👕 Dream Lab (Cricut) — creating fashion that reflex's purpose to encourage youth to obey their dreams.
🎤 Recess Rhythm Stage — giving young performers a platform to shine unapologetically.
🎓 Dream Wall (broken crayons still color) — encouraging scholars to visualize college, careers, and the life they deserve.

We didn’t just inspire students we equipped them.

We showed them that their voice matters.
Their dreams are valid.
And their future is theirs to create.

Kicking off Black History Month in this way was intentional. Legacy is not only something we honor it’s something we build. Watching these young leaders step into their greatness reminded us exactly why service remains our highest aspiration.

Thank you to the incredible staff Imani Freeling & Dr Henry for the invite. I really appreciate yall for believing in our vision and setting us up to be of service! and our sponsors @obeyyourdreamsacacademy & @blacc_ahf
