Hey, I'm Mike, the face behind Black Water Media!

I've been shooting photography and video for nearly 20 years, and set up Black Water Media in 2020

I work with businesses to create media that not only looks great, but actually reflects who you are and how you work.

If your content isn’t doing your business justice, drop me a message. by @blackwatermediauk

I had so much fun shooting the @calcottfarmfestival earlier in the year. To be part of a new festival beginning, and hitting such a home run on its first swing, was a real honour.

Any event coverage you need, from set up and BTS, artists, crowd or stage I'd love to help you capture it all, not just to share the memories, but also to set you up perfectly for advertising the next event.

Back out shooting pools for @my_pool_direct today.

The sun is shining and the summer vibes are just perfect for it!

With just a morning on site, we collected drone footage, still photography and loads of normal video shots, giving plenty of footage not only for this project but also for content for months and years ahead.

Interested to find out how professional media can be a real game changer for your business, lets go for a coffee and ill be happy to talk you through exactly works best for your industry!

Your holiday let is likely one of dozens, if not hundreds, competing to stand out in the local area.

Aside from dropping your prices, one of the best ways to make your property leap out from the listings is with great photos that immediately grab attention.

From Airbnbs and holiday cottages to larger resorts and outdoor spaces, professional photo, video and drone content can make a huge difference to how your property is perceived online.

If your listing could do with an update before the busy season kicks in, now’s the perfect time to get it sorted.

People that know me know I absolutely hate doing bits to camera.

I've always preferred being the other side of the lens. As a teenager I just refused to be in any photos, and threw a right strop when my family made me go to a shoot (which I feel terrible about now, what a brat).

After working with cameras for a good number of years now I've found myself in front of them more and more, and I still struggle, so many blooper reels!

But I also think it helps me massively when it comes to talking other people through business shoots, because I get it, you don't want to be there. But if we can mess about a bit and have some fun those walls soon come down. We can bring in your colleagues or friends, or we can put you in a room on your own with a remote trigger if needs be!

The most important part of my job isnt the camera settings, its making you have a great time and relax, because thats the real key to good headshots.

I've needed new headshots myself for ages, and while I've been fortunate enough to have a couple of great photogs squeeze me in to sessions, I was never happy with them because I was so on edge, because it was time sensitive situation.

So I figured the solution was to set up the home studio, and just mess about for the afternoon, and you know what. It was good fun.

If you're in business, you need good headshots. And don't feel bad if you dread it, you're definitely not alone!

Get in touch and get new photos of you and the team, that you'll actually be happy to look at!

It’s the perfect time of year for property shoots. The landscape is looking its best, everything’s green again, and the harsh overhead summer sun hasn’t fully arrived yet.

If you know anyone looking to update content for an Airbnb, holiday park, activity centre, venue, or commercial property, now’s the time to do it properly.

Professional photo, video, and drone content doesn’t just make a property look good, it helps people picture themselves there before they’ve even arrived.

If you’ve got a property or outdoor space that deserves better content, get in touch and let’s create something great.

Whether it’s performance, teaching, or something in between, the way you present your work matters. Strong photo and video don’t just document what you do, they show the control, detail, and presence that make it worth watching in the first place.

For performers, dancers, and artists, good content is essential for portfolios, classes, promotion, and booking work. It gives people a clear sense of your style and ability before they’ve even seen you live.

If you’re putting your work out there, it’s worth capturing it properly.

These shots are of aerialist @amypanteraerial performing with The Dream Engine late last year.

If you’d like to create content that reflects what you actually do, feel free to get in touch.

Most businesses have good feedback, but it usually ends up as a few lines of text on a website that people skim past or Google reviews people glance over.

Video testimonials are different. You can see the person, hear how they speak, and get a much clearer sense of what the experience was actually like. That level of authenticity builds trust far quicker, especially for people who are still deciding.

If you’ve got happy customers, it’s worth capturing that properly.

If you’d like to start using video testimonials in your business, drop me a message.

Always good to receive feedback like this.

The aim is simple. Keep things organised, make the shoot run smoothly, and deliver content that actually works for the business.

Appreciate the kind words.

I shot these for Bunkers & Mulligans Golf Venues with @flairmedia_ , capturing both photo and video across their indoor golf and bar venues.

Over two days, we created a bank of content they can use right across their websites and social media throughout the year, not just for one-off posts, but ongoing marketing.

For venues like this, it’s not just about showing the space. It’s about showing the atmosphere, the energy, and what a night there actually feels like. That’s what gets people through the door.

If you run a bar, restaurant, or venue and your content isn’t doing that yet, get in touch.

New Year’s Eve with @titan.firework.displays.ltd.

Fireworks are one of the more demanding things to shoot. Extreme lighting, fast pace, no rehearsals. Just one shot at getting it right!

But that’s exactly why it matters.

Titan needed strong visuals to show future clients what their displays actually look like at different levels, not just tell them.

If your product or service is hard to capture, give us a call!

Drone work for @theduxdigital, covering a range of development sites across London.

If you’re working on projects like this, aerial photo and video is one of the simplest ways to show what’s really going on. Scale, layout, surroundings, all in a way ground-level shots just can’t match.

And it’s not just for show. Strong aerial content helps with marketing plots, updating investors, supporting planning, and generally presenting your project in the best possible light.

New builds, site progress, land overviews, all covered.

If you’ve got a site live or are about to start, don’t miss the opportunity to capture it properly.
