For Your GRAMMY® Consideration: Opera Recording — Der Ring des Nibelungen!
I am so proud to have been part of this recording! It was a life-enhancing experience playing a small role by preparing the chorus and doing a bit of off-stage conducting just before Siegfried’s death!
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s landmark live recording of Richard Wagner’s Der Ring
des Nibelungen was captured over several concerts at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony
Center in 2024. Representing a rare undertaking for an American orchestra, this historic
project was released in 2026 during the DSO’s 125th anniversary season, and 150 years
after the first performance of the complete Ring cycle at the Bayreuth Festival. by @blakeclarkmusic

Not long now until Messiah season starts! Hallelujah! by @blakeclarkmusic

One of the most important rehearsal skills for a conductor is knowing when to fix something and when to let the orchestra play. So often, the orchestra can fix itself. We can so easily get in the way. Ideally, we can show 95% of our musical interpretation with gesture, allowing us to stop the orchestra only when it is absolutely necessary. It’s such a difficult balance! If you’re a conductor or a player, comment below with your philosophy on this important subject! by @blakeclarkmusic
