NAOMI ❤️

This music video is not a story I created. It’s a piece of my real life.

“Naomi” is a song I made for my daughter, who came into my life during one of the hardest chapters I’ve ever lived through.

Six days after my mother’s funeral, Naomi was born.

I was grieving the woman who gave me life while suddenly holding a new life in my arms. I was experiencing the deepest loss I had ever known, while at the same time becoming a father and discovering a completely different kind of love.

In many ways, Naomi became a light during one of the darkest periods of my life.

This video is a raw and unfiltered collection of moments from that time. No perfect shots. No scripted scenes. No attempt to make everything look beautiful.

Just us.

The sleepless nights. The little moments. The smiles. The tears. The exhaustion. The love. The chaos. The quiet moments in between.

I wanted to preserve these memories exactly as they were because one day, when Naomi is older, I want her to be able to look back and see how much she meant to me during a time when I was struggling to find my way through grief.

My mother’s story ended, but a new chapter began.

And somehow, through Naomi, I feel like a part of my mother’s legacy continues.

This is for my daughter.

Naomi, you came into my life when I needed you more than you could ever know.

I love you. ❤️

Navigating postpartum and feeling like a stranger in your own skin, is a weird feeling, but luckily the more time that passes the more you navigate back to the new version of yourself. I’m so sick of the SoME “get back to your before pregnancy body” - I don’t want to! I just gave birth and created a whole human being. The expectation of “getting” back is another patriarchal tool designed to shame us back into shape. I refuse to be anything other than me in this new version of myself that’s being made. by @blvckpantherr

A love letter to every postpartum woman:

This time around being postpartum has been so transformative for me. Like it was the first time but now from a perspective where my frontal lobe is actually developed fully. Me getting my autism diagnosis right after giving birth has been life changing in ways people might never understand.

Now being home and being able to work on myself from a perspective of actually knowing who I am and what I am is such a blessing. I have withdrawn myself from a lot of what my life used to be like. I am 100% focused fully on me and my family, and with the little energy I have and when I’m privileged too, I will travel. Unapologetically, with no shame.

To be able to travel, my biggest passion, by myself none the less, will keep me going and being the best version of myself I can possible be. To have a partner that supports me in this is and know how much I deal with being autistic and a mother of two, seeing me everyday and the challenges I go through and wants to support that, that’s love.

I’ve been lost many times this last couple of months, rightfully so, bringing a new life into this horrifying yet wonderful world.
I’ve struggled with my health to an extent I haven’t before, learning that the details in my life is what will make me healthier, happier and more content with my life.

I wish every postpartum woman out there the support to be something else than someone who’s full existence is to not only keep the baby safe and loved, being a girlfriend/wife, mother, friend, plan the week, pack school lunches, go to extracurricular activities etc - with little or no time left at all for themself realize that this is your life too. You don’t only exist for others. You should live for you as much as you live for everyone else around you.

Love. by @blvckpantherr
