A terrible photo of one of my favorite illustrations from FROG FACE 🐸💜 There have been innumerable reasons to frown lately, so I hope y'all are making time for snacks and giggles.

FROG FACE is out today!!! 🐸💜 I hope you all enjoy meeting Frog and her well-intentioned neighbors as much as I had drawing them.

A Cape Buffalo-sized thank you goes out to Kelly, Monica, Ellen, Jennifer, Adah, and the whole incredible @tenspeedyoungreaders team.
And to Molly for putting up with me for the past decade 😂 by @blythe_russo

FROG FACE is out next week! As a little bonus, I made a "color-your-own paper puppet" template which is now available to download on my website. I also included basic step-by-step instructions, as this is something that will need a bit of adult assistance. (There are some fiddly cutting involved.) If any of you decide to make one, I would love to see! (I will try to have some copies printed for my upcoming bookstore events.) 💜💜💜 @tenspeedyoungreaders by @blythe_russo

FROG FACE, the latest picture book by uber-talented author/illustrator and awesome friend @blythe_russo is an absolute winner and will be such a great story for young readers everywhere. I can totally relate to Frog’s wish for cozy comfort at home, so while she’s just trying to grab a snack, misunderstandings ensue and you’ll just have to grab a copy at your favorite independent bookstore to find out what happens next! It’s got humor, and heart, and Blythe’s signature charming characters throughout and it’s a great read-aloud too! Congratulations Blythe and @tenspeedyoungreaders on such a great story for little ones (and adults too!) touching on not judging someone before you truly know them. Loved it! #blytherusso #tenspeedyoungreaders #frogface #gifted #frogfacepicturebook by @blythe_russo

Thanks for the kind review, @kirkus_reviews!

FROG FACT: I took exactly two WIP photos while I was making FROG FACE and you have now seen both of them, lol. I think this is officially my favorite illustration from the book, if I had to choose (which I do, because kids will ask). I always wanted to do a secret, surprise case cover and I'm grateful that FROG's editor and designer (Kelly and Monica, both the most wonderful and patient angel babies) allowed me the opportunity with this project. So, if you want to see this illustration of Frog and her friends in its full color glory, don't forget to sneak a peek under the jacket when you grab your copy of FROG FACE out September 15!

I'm only posting on the main feed because @breannacarzoo is a bully 😂 (She's not, she's wonderful — go check out her books.) It was a whirlwind trip to Chicago to hand deliver FROG FACE cookies for the @tenspeedyoungreaders party Friday night. I had made the team these cookies as a 'thank you' once the book had gone off to the printer, so they asked me if I'd make more to celebrate FROG at ALA. It was so nice to see the people I was able to see (Ten Speed team, you are awesome!) and hopefully I'll get to see everyone I missed sometime soon. Thank you to everyone who said nice things about FROG, everyone who insisted on taking photos (the only photos I took were so I remembered where I parked my car) and apologies to anyone I said "love you, bye!" to, it was meant professionally 😬

People I saw whose books you should immediately go grab!

Back to work for me. Have a great week, everyone! 💜🖤 by @blythe_russo

For FROG FACE, it was my first time doing hand-lettering for a book (that wasn't just emanata/sfx in comics). Fun fact, years ago I had bought a pack of Blackwing pencils to try out because everyone was raving about them and I immediately HATED them 😂 They were too soft for my liking, so I sent them off to a friend who'd get better use of them. Fast forward to working on FROG when I realized I needed softer pencils for what I was going for and I reluctantly bought another pack of Blackwings 🫠 (#NotAnAd)

Anyway, FROG FACE is out on 9/15 and available for preorder now 💜💜💜 by @blythe_russo
