This was my first time directing an ensemble with the @citymusicboston Aspire 5-Week students. When we first met, some had never played jazz before, and others had never improvised. Over these past four weeks, I got to witness some incredible growth in these young adults. Not only did they grow, but I grew right along with them. They challenged me mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. This is an experience I’ll never forget. A huge thank you to all the professors and everyone behind the scenes who recommended me for this opportunity, mentored me, and supported me throughout the process. I am a reflection of all of you. Belle Baguy, if you’re reading this... thank you! ❤️ 1. Belle Baguy = Beautiful Stuff 2. Rehearsal/Choreography 3. Execution of the idea 4. Bass solo into “Lakay” by @nwasoul 5. Drum solo on “Lotus Blossom” by @wyattck_drums. Y’all do me a favor and give this young man a follow—he’s up next. by @bobbyboushe

This Black History Month, we came together to honor the legacy of Jimi Hendrix — one of the most pivotal and revolutionary figures in American music history. Hendrix transformed rock ’n’ roll by fusing blues, soul, psychedelia, and raw innovation into something the world had never heard before. His approach to the electric guitar reshaped not just rock, but the sound and spirit of modern music itself. This tribute is our way of celebrating his impact, his fearlessness, and his enduring influence on generations of artists. Long live the experience. ⚡ Recorded and filmed at Studio ELEVN Directed by - Bobby Etienne Creative Direction - RJ Walters Engineer - Miguel Diaz Set Design - Dana Clarke Grip - Jazari Watson Deleen Band: Violin - Fred Woodard III Guitar - Miguel Diaz Bass - Christoff Jamal Glaude Drums - Christian Napoleon Keys - RJ Walters by @bobbyboushe
Gil Scott Heron, known for warning us “ The revaluation will not be televised” was an outspoken leader, poet, musician and truth teller who brought prophetic vision and rhythm to resistance. “Home is where the hatred is” is a 1971 classic touching on addiction, trauma, and fleeing a broken home. It speaks to the experiences of Black Vietnam veterans returning to the United States. Kanye West and Common later sample Scott- Herons song in a 2005 release titled “My Way Home’ off of West’s album Late Registration.
